Chicago Med's Season 8 finale airs Wednesday, May 24 at 8/7c on NBC, and we can't wait to see how it all unfolds. According to Steven Weber, who plays Dr. Dean Archer on the NBC drama, it's going to be an episode full of twists and turns.

How to Watch

Watch Chicago Med Wednesdays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

To recap: The financially corrupted Jack Dayton (Sasha Roiz) has transformed Gaffney into a for-profit hospital, and the consequences have been challenging for the entire staff. Dayton's cherished investment, the O.R. 2.0., has experienced its first recorded patient death under the supervision of Dr. Crockett Marcel (Dominic Rains).

Meanwhile, Dr. Archer's health continues to worsen, and his son, Sean Archer (Luigi Sottile), has gone M.I.A. The hospital's numerous absurd changes have inspired longtime charge nurse Maggie Lockwood (Marlyne Barrett) to try and jump ship, but fans are crossing their fingers that she might stay.

Keeping up? If that wasn't stressful enough, Dayton intends to go under the knife himself in a live-streamed surgery for potential investors, despite knowing O.R. 2.0. isn't reliable.

Here's the episode's official description: "Shocking information threatens Jack Dayton's surgery and the future of OR 2.0; Archer goes rogue to save a patient in need; Maggie questions her future at Med."

Weber chatted with NBC Insider about what fans might expect from the Season 8 finale.

"I wouldn't say [these storylines] necessarily conclude, but they come to quite a moving and interesting climax..." he reveals. "One that makes thematic sense and dramatic sense. And the finale will not disappoint."

Weber adds that this finale maintains the quality and emotional impact the show has pulled off "so beautifully for so long." You know what that means, Chi-Hards: Make sure you have the tissues nearby.

Weber also mentioned how exciting it's been to watch Archer evolve as a character, partially due to his growing closeness with Dr. Hannah Asher (Jessy Schram) and his son. Fans may have theories about where the story is heading, but Weber is confident viewers will finish the episode shocked by the turn of events.

"[The finale] will surprise audiences who think they know what's going to happen," Weber exclaims."They don't know what's going to happen. It's going to be really good, really cool."

Expect the unexpected, Chi-Hards! We can't wait to see how Chicago Med's latest chapter concludes.

Chicago Med Season 9 premieres this fall.
