A Breakdown of the Main Chicago P.D. Cast

Everyone is so talented.

By Jessica White
Welcome Chicago Med's Hannah Asher and Chicago P.D.'s Dante Torres | NBC's One Chicago

Chicago P.D. is a long-time favorite within the One Chicago family, which encompasses Chicago P.D., Chicago Med, and Chicago Fire. While each show highlights different first responders within the Windy City, the Chicago P.D. characters often cross over to other series to investigate the legal side of a case. In a city that's never been short of emergencies, the cast of Chicago P.D. has the hefty task of bringing justice to the city, whether that includes investigating political corruption or tackling local gang violence.

How to Watch

Chicago P.D. boasts 10 action-packed seasons of Dick Wolf excellency after its return this fall. Below, see the current list of actors on Chicago P.D. through Season 10.

Jason Beghe as Sgt. Hank Voight

Beghe stars as Sgt. Henry "Hank" Voight, the dedicated commander of the 21st District Intelligence Unit. Voight always wanted to become a cop and works tirelessly to protect Chicago citizens, even if it requires him to get his hands dirty or work around the law. While Hank is known for his results, he's also known by many criminals and fellow agents for the harsh methods used to guarantee those results.

As for Beghe, he's also starred in Californication, The Next Three Days, Thelma & Louise, and G.I. Jane.

Patrick John Flueger as Officer Adam Ruzek

Burgess Decides to Move in with Ruzek | NBC’s Chicago P.D.

Officer Adam Ruzek, played by Flueger, was a promising candidate for the Intelligence Unit from the very start, pulled directly from the Academy to hit the Chicago ground running. As the former partner to Officer Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) and one of the more complex characters in Chicago P.D., audiences love watching how Adam approaches an emergency, even when he disagrees with Hank or Detective Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) about working around the legal system.

Fun fact? The Princess Diaries fans will recognize Flueger as Mia and Lily's odd ball friend, the red-haired rocker Jeremiah. The role is Flueger's first-ever acting credit on IMDB.

LaRoyce Hawkins as Officer Kevin Atwater

LaRoyce Hawkins as Kevin Atwater

Kim's patrols are made all the easier alongside officer Kevin Atwater, played by the talented LaRoyce Hawkins. You can also catch Hawkins making an occasional hilarious cameo on HBO Max's South Side.

Joining the Chicago P.D. to deviate from the criminal lifestyle of many of his relatives, Kevin is a loving and understanding officer on the team. He's the legal guardian to his siblings, helps employ ex-cons, and always throws himself into action to help those in need.

Amy Morton as Desk Sgt. Trudy Platt

Do You Think You Know Trudy Platt? | NBC's Chicago P.D.

Chicago P.D. would simply not be the same without Chi-Hard's favorite desk sergeant, Trudy Platt. Amy Morton (who's also a Tony Award nominee for her Broadway runs in August: Osage County and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf ) is a fan favorite because of her hilariously blunt attitude and tough-as-nails demeanor, always keeping her fellow officers in line despite her behind-the-scenes position. After passing the detective test twice, a work-related injury prevents her from being on the front lines. That isn't to say Trudy lacks screen time, she's thankfully also half of the One Chicago power couple, "Plouch" with Chicago Fire's Mouch (Christian Stolte)

Jesse Lee Soffer as Det. Jay Halstead

Halstead Resigns | NBC’s Chicago P.D.

Detective Jay Halstead was played by the talented Soffer, who also frequently appeared in Chicago Med as the brother of Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss). Jay was a blunt and tough member of the Intelligence Unit, and an experienced marksman due to his time as a U.S. Army Ranger in Afghanistan. While his tough exterior is often at the forefront, he also had a notable soft side around his wife and fellow detective, Hailey Upton, and the rest of family. Unfortunately, during Season 10, Episode 3 Halstead tendered his resignation and Soffer left the show after 10 seasons. However, he's briefly returning to the series to direct Episode 16.

Soffer also starred as Will Munson on As the World Turns for six years before his last episode in 2010.

Tracy Spiridakos as Det. Hailey Upton

Upton on Chicago PD

Detective Hailey Upton is played by Spiridakos (Revolution, Bates Motel, MacGyver), the partner—in every sense of the word—to Jay Halstead. Her interest in law enforcement came from her childhood of parental abuse. She becomes a cop and is later partnered with Jay in the Intelligence Unit. The pair immediately connect and eventually get married. You can always trust Hailey will be there when someone is in need, whether that's a Chicago resident or her fellow officers.

Marina Squerciati as Officer Kim Burgess

Burgess and Ruzek Discuss the Future of Their Relationship | NBC’s Chicago P.D.

Squerciati (who had a brief stint of Gossip Girl as Alessandra Steele) shines in her performance as a patrol officer and Chicago P.D. fan favorite Kim Burgess. As the Intelligence Unit's sweetheart, Kim is endlessly compassionate and effortlessly able to address emergencies with a tender approach that still generates results. As the patrol partner of Atwater, Kim is just as reliable as an officer as Squerciati is charming in her performance.

Benjamin Levy Aguilar as Officer Dante Torres

Torres on Chicago PD

After a one episode appearance in Season 9, rookie cop Dante Torres—played by Benjamin Levy Aguilar—officially joined the Intelligence Unit in Season 10. Though quiet and holds his cards close to his chest, the team's newest member is motivated by his past as a former gang member to police in the right way for his community. Though he finds it difficult to stay true to his neighborhood roots, while also being a good cop.

As for Aguilar, while he's an up and coming actor, the star has years long training in Krav Maga. He also worked in security at the Israeli Embassy and at the presidential elections in his native Guatemala, providing the perfect background for his role as Torres.
