After 12 long years, NBC's Law & Order is back. The iconic series ended its impressive 20-season run in 2010, but the Law & Order franchise lived on in full force with spin-offs like Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Law & Order: Organized Crime.

How to Watch

Watch Law & Order on NBC and Peacock.

But the original Law & Order returned triumphantly in Februarry 2022, airing its 21st season that featured both returning and new characters. Below, see a breakdown of those characters.

Who is in the new Law & Order cast?

Sam Waterston

District Attorney Jack McCoy

Fans of the original run of Law & Order were excited to see Waterston return to the new Law & Order cast, reprising his role as Jack McCoy. The longtime district attorney leads a new team of police and legal experts tackling NYC's toughest criminals. With Waterston returning for Season 22, the actor becomes the longest-running cast member for the flagship series.

Jeffrey Donovan

Detective Frank Cosgrove

Donovan joined the new Law & Order cast as Junior Detective Frank Cosgrove, the new partner of Det. Kevin Bernard (Anthony Anderson). Frank is a tough-as-nails detective that seeks justice by whatever means necessary. Every legal drama needs a bad cop, and Donovan shines.

Camryn Manheim

Lieutenant Kate Dixon

Manheim is a Law & Order veteran, guest-starring in three episodes during the initial run. Now, she returns to Season 22 as Lieutenant Kate Dixon, the successor of S. Epatha Merkerson’s Anita Van Buren in the original run.

Hugh Dancy

Assistant District Attorney Nolan Price

Dancy is another new face among the Law & Order cast who plays ADA Nolan Price, the defense attorney-turned-prosecutor with a loaded past that drives his passion for seeing criminals go behind bars.

Odelya Halevi

Assistant District Attorney Samantha Maroun

Halevi joined the new Law & Order cast in Season 21 as Samantha Maroun, an endearingly direct ADA who wishes to see justice served within the courtroom.
