Mehcad Brooks joins the cast as Detective Jalen Shaw for the 22nd season of the NBC drama "Law & Order."Brooks recently co-starred as a cybernetically enhanced super soldier in Warner Bros.' action-adventure film "Mortal Kombat." He also appeared in Tyler Perry's 2020 Netflix film "A Fall from Grace," as well as "Nobody's Fool." Additional film credits include "In the Valley of Elah," opposite Tommy Lee Jones and Charlize Theron; "Glory Road," produced by Jerry Bruckheimer; "Just Wright," opposite Queen Latifah, Common and Paula Patton; and "About Last Night," opposite Kevin Hart, Michael Ealy and Regina Hall.On the television front, Brooks co-starred in the DC Comics superhero action-adventure series "Supergirl" from 2015 to 2021. He landed his first big break in television in 2005 with the role of Alfre Woodard's son on "Desperate Housewives." During his time on the show, he won a SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series and also secured an NAACP Image Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. Other credits include "True Blood," "Necessary Roughness," "Boston Public," "Cold Case" and "Ghost Whisperer."After attending Yale as an undergraduate, Brooks went to USC's School of Cinematic Arts to further hone his craft.As a musician, Brooks recently released his debut album "May 20TH," which was inspired by multiple near-death experiences, all taking place on May 20 and forever changing his life.
