Did Stella Die in Chicago Fire's Midseason Finale? The Co-Showrunner Weighs In

Her and Carver's lives are in jeopardy after that intense explosion.

Mikami Gets Emotional About Losing Hawkins | NBC’s Chicago Fire

The lives of two Firehouse 51 characters are in jeopardy after Chicago Fire's midseason finale (Season 11, Episode 9). When the crew arrives at a house raid of criminals stashing illegal firearms—a scene with connections to the dirty cop who almost got Stella (Miranda Rae Mayo) and Severide (Taylor Kinney) killed—we learn that Detective Pryma (Troy Winbush) is severely injured inside. Pryma, remember, wanted help on this case from the dirty cop, but in order to do that, needed sign-off from Severide, which didn't happen. Now, it's all come to a head with Pryma's life on the line—and Stella and Carver's (Jake Lockett) lives, too.

How to Watch

Watch Chicago Fire Wednesdays at 9/8c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

Stella and Carver go into the house to try and save Pryma, and things appear to be going well at first. However, the episode ends on a cliffhanger when the house literally explodes...with everyone still inside. That means all their lives are up in the air if Firehouse 51 doesn't act quickly. So the question remains: Is anyone going to die?

Does Stella die in Chicago Fire Season 11, Episode 9?

Unfortunately, we'll have to wait until Chicago Fire returns on January 4, 2023 to get a concrete answer to this question. But here's what co-showrunner Derek Haas tells NBC Insider: "That is a big, big, question when Episode 10 comes back: Did anyone survive this? Severide's 'gonna rush right in to the building, stepping over debris and into the fog, and we're 'gonna be right there with him as we try to figure out if anyone survived. But the ramifications of this are 'gonna hang over the second half of the season."
