Here's Where You Recognized Gallo's Date From on the New Chicago Fire

Did the actress who played Kayla look familiar to you? If so, you're not alone.

Chicago Fire Season 11, Episode 12 (which aired January 18) featured a delightful subplot where Gallo (Alberto Rosende) reaches out to a woman on social media who posted about wanting to meet the handsome fireman that saved her. Ritter (Daniel Kyri) flags the social media post to Gallo, and they deduce the woman is most likely talking about Gallo given the other firefighters present on the job in question.

How to Watch

Watch Chicago Fire Wednesdays at 9/8c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

So, Gallo shoots his shot—and it works. The woman's name is Kayla, and Gallo takes her on a date where she returns the glove he left at the fire scene. But it's not his glove. It turns out Gallo and Ritter were wrong, and the fireman who saved Kayla wasn't Gallo.

Gallo comes clean to Kayla at the end of the episode...and inadvertently lets it slip that he also slept with Herrmann's (David Eigenberg) niece. That factoid is enough to turn Kayla off from Gallo for good, and she leaves him in the middle of Molly's (where they met for a drink).

If you watched the episode and thought the actress who played Kayla looked familiar, you're right. Her name is Cait Fairbanks, and she's played Tessa Porter on The Young and the Restless since 2017. Question answered!

Sadly, the question of whether or not Herrmann's wife Cindy (Robyn Coffin) will be OK following her lung cancer diagnosis is still just that: a question. In Season 11, Episode 12, it's revealed that while Cindy did well in surgery, she has to undergo chemotherapy and radiation.

"It is going to be a rough road for the whole Herrmann family as Cindy battles lung cancer," Chicago Fire co-showrunner Andrea Newman told NBC Insider. "There's a tough fight ahead, with no short cuts or easy solutions, but the Herrmann family, and the 51 family, will come together to help in all sorts of ways as the situation progresses."

To find out what happens with Cindy and all your favorite characters from Firehouse 51, be sure to watch Chicago Fire Wednesdays at 9/8c on NBC. Episodes stream the next day on Peacock.
