Daniel Kyri plays firefighter Darren Ritter on the NBC drama "Chicago Fire."
Kyri is a classically trained actor who was born and raised on the south side of Chicago. Named one of 2020's "50 People Who Really Perform for Chicago" by NewCity's Stage issue, a Windy City Times 30 Under 30 honoree and Chicago Reader's Best Actor of 2017, he has made a name for himself.
His previous credits include Freeform's "The Thing About Harry" and Stephen Cone's award-winning film "Henry Gamble's Birthday Party," now streaming on Hulu. Kyri's theater credits include "Objects in the Mirror" (The Goodman Theatre), for which he was nominated for a 2017 Joseph Jefferson Equity Award for Principal Actor in a Play in 2017; "Monster" (Steppenwolf Theatre Company), "Tug of War Part 1 & 2: Foreign Fire and Civil Strife" (Chicago Shakespeare Theater) and "Moby Dick" (Looking Glass Theatre Company).
He was most recently seen onstage in Tarell Alvin McCraney's world premiere production of "Ms. Blakk for President." The multihyphenate also wrote, directed, produced and starred in the online miniseries "The T." The show follows a trans woman and a Black queer man (played by Kyri) who discovers he is HIV positive.
