April Returns | NBC’s Chicago Med

Ever since April Sexton (Yaya DaCosta) made a shocking return to Chicago Med in the Season 8 premiere, fans have been waiting with their fingers crossed to see if she and Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee) would get back together. Well, the wait is finally over! Chexton is official.

How to Watch

Watch Chicago Med Wednesdays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

They first made contact at the grave of Ethan's father, a coincidence that immediately clarified April still cares about her ex-fiancé. Both Ethan and April were single at the time.

The tides truly began to turn for a Chexton reunion in Episode 5 when April visited Gaffney for help with a patient her medical group struggled to diagnose. That night, April and Ethan locked eyes in the club, and it was abundantly clear that nothing was platonic between the two. Fans got further confirmation of that in Episode 6 when Ethan was seen leaving April's apartment for work, smiling while leaving a goodbye note.

In Episode 7, "The Clothes Make the Man...or Do They?" Ethan clarified his updated relationship status in a conversation with Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss), insinuating that he and April have been in a relationship for some time. We love to hear it!

"How are things with April?" Will asked him.

"To be honest, it's much easier the second time around," Ethan revealed. "It's like we got all the big arguments out of the way."

"That's great," Will said.

"You know, It turns out we were walking down the same path this entire time," Ethan explained. "We just didn't know it."

Chicago Med fans are keenly aware that Ethan and April have never struggled with chemistry. Most of their obstacles stemmed from communication issues while engaged, resulting in a long line of hiccups that led to their eventual demise. Now that Ethan and April have spent time growing separately from each other, it's looking like all they needed was time to recalibrate before being together. Despite their distance, their separate journeys remained similar, so it makes sense that they're thriving in their revamped relationship.

Ethan has had a challenging few seasons, so it's gratifying to see him finally happy with April. See what happens next between the happy couple by watching Chicago Med Wednesdays at 8/7c on NBC and the next day on Peacock.
