Fans are still reeling from Brett (Kara Killmer) and Casey's (Jesse Spencer) breakup on Chicago Fire. To cope, Brett's fully thrown herself into work—but in a new interview with TVLine, co-showrunner Andrea Newman teases romance is on the horizon for our beloved paramedic.

How to Watch

Watch Chicago Fire Wednesdays at 9/8c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

“Brett will date again!”  Newman says, though she doesn't explicitly say who; only that "she meets someone that has a surprising connection to the past, and she’ll go on her first date since Casey left.”

This will happen in the November 16th episode of Chicago Fire—but who is this person with a "surprising connection to the past?" Could it be her ex-fiancé, Kyle Sheffield (Teddy Sears), who made an appearance in the Season 11 premiere? Granted, he was engaged at the time, but on Chicago Fire, relationships change faster than Truck 81 puts out fires. His cameo has to mean something...right?

In any case, we're excited to see what's in store for Brett. Regardless, Killmer told NBC Insider earlier this year Brett will still be prioritizing work and friendships; a new fling may just be an added bonus.

"I think we’ve always seen Sylvie in a relationship," she said. "We’ve always seen her in a romance. She’s a hopeless romantic, but I think it's important to see her come into her own and focus on her own things. Friendships and her career, not just her love life. I’m really excited about being able to explore all of that."
