If it wasn't obvious from the endless empathy oozing from Law & Order: Special Victim's Unit's Captain Olivia Benson, Mariska Hargitay has a huge heart both on and off-screen.

Hargitay is the CEO of the Joyful Heart Foundation, which seeks to combat sexual violence, a cause close to home for the SVU star. And her hard work leading the organization resulted in an incredibly esteemed award.

On April 26, Hargitay attended the 2023 Colleagues Spring Luncheon and Oscar de la Renta Fashion Show and was the proud recipient of the Champion for Children Award which acknowledged her tireless efforts as the founder of the Joyful Heart Foundation, which seeks to transform society's response to sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse to support survivor healing. Hargitay was elated about the special honor but became even more ecstatic after learning who was present during the special moment: Her beloved high school teacher, Sister Margaret.

Hargitay took to Instagram to post a heartwarming slideshow of pictures from the event, both solo and cheesing alongside Sister Margaret.

Hargitay captioned the sweet IG slideshow, "And then there was the most exquisite surprise of the afternoon: my favorite teacher and one of my most important mentors, Sister Margaret from Marymount High School! Too good to be true! The beautiful, fulfilling, deeply meaningful afternoon you all created is etched in my heart forever."

Hargitay's caption continued, "So much love and so much gratitude to The Colleagues for your kindness, for your generosity and most of all, for doing so much good for so many. #OverTheMoon #LetsBeCourageous #WhatsYourCourageCallingYouToDo #LetsMakeChange #StepBeyondYourLimits #NothingIsImpossible #EndTheBacklog #WomenSupportingWomen #FierceFemaleFriendship #EveryoneNeedsALittlePretty #Hydrangea #HonorSomeoneToday #Love."

What a sweet moment from the SVU star! Hargitay recently wrapped filming for Season 24 of Law & Order: SVU, looking forward to what Season 25 has in store for fans this fall. What thrilling cases and heartwarming moments will Hargitay bring next time?

Watch Law & Order: Special Victims Unit Thursdays at 9/8c on NBC and the next day on Peacock.
