At long last, Suits LA is finally here, and fans were given their first look at the expanded world of Suits since it ended in 2019. The new show is very different from the original, though, from the cast to the storylines to, of course, the city. However, there is one major similarity to the original that fans may have picked up on in the opening credits.

How to Watch

Watch Suits: LA on NBC and Peacock.

Like its predecessor, Suits LA opens with a fantastic sequence showing off the high-power life of attorneys in the City of Angels, all scored to a familiar tune — “The Greenback Boogie” by Ima Robot. However, many fans may just refer to it as “the Suits theme song.”

The 2010 single is weirdly more appropriate for Suits LA given that Ima Roboto is an LA-based band that originally released the track in 2010 on the album Another Man’s Treasure, with Golden Globe Award winner Alex Ebert. As for how the song, unchanged, became the theme song to the new spinoff series, there’s a funny story there.

According to Suits LA star Stephen Amell, it came down to a gut decision by series creator Aaron Korsh

“So I was on set with Aaron when the first teaser came out, and he heard it with the original theme song, and he went, ‘Yeah, we’re just going to do the original song,’” Amell explained in a recent sit-down with NBC Insider. “And apparently a bunch of other ones had been commissioned and a bunch of things had been thrown around.”

Oh well, it seems those other songs will just be lost in the history books of the Suits franchise. As for the choice to keep the song as the theme to Suits LA, Amell is one hundred percent on board with the decision.

“You know, I think the first time people hear it, they’re going to be like, ‘Oh, they’re using the same song,’ because that’s what I felt when I was watching House of the Dragon. But then, by the second episode, I was like, ‘Oh good, I get to hear my Game of Thrones theme song and be happy with it.’”

He concluded: “Whenever you hear that beat, you think Suits. So, let’s just make it Suits LA.”

While the theme song may be the same, Suits LA carved its own path in its premiere episode with a pair of intriguing plot twists that are sure to keep viewers on the edge of their seats and tuning into Episode 2 to get to the bottom of a some of the lingering questions left behind by the first episode. Specifically, to see how the all-out war between the series' two leads will shake out.

It was also previously confirmed that, in addition to “The Greenback Boogie,” another familiar element will make its way to Los Angeles from the original USA Network series. Gabriel Macht is confirmed to have an upcoming guest arc on Suits LA, reprising his role as Harvey Specter, the hot-shot attorney who took no prisoners both in the courtroom and the board room in all nine seasons of Suits

As for what he’ll be doing and what he’ll have been up to since the show aired its finale in 2019, curious fans will just have to tune into Suits LA to find out.
