Blake Shelton Gave The Most Blake Update From His Ranch On New Episode of The Voice

Retire from The Voice? Blake Shelton doesn't know the meaning of that phrase!

By NBC Insider Staff

Retire from The Voice? Blake Shelton doesn't know the meaning of that phrase! After all, he was one of the show's founding Coaches.

How to Watch

Watch The Voice Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

While he's not currently an active part of NBC's hit competition series, Mr. Shelton still finds ways to make his presence known among the current roster of musical mentors, which includes his wife: Gwen Stefani. On Tuesday night's episode, for example, Blake texted Gwen a Grizzly Adams-style update straight from their Oklahoma ranch: "I'm cutting loads of fire wood right now."

Reba (who inherited Blake's chair) sent her best wishes, while a slightly miffed Niall (last season's champion and current owner of Blake's "Pick Me" foam finger) remarked that Blake had yet to text him back.

John Legend with a cutout of Blake Shelton

Blake Shelton "stalks" John Legend on NBC's The Voice

In one of the interstitials separating blind auditions, returning Coach John Legend confessed that he was missing his "old buddy" — and former roommate — something fierce. "But sometimes," he added, "it feels like he is still here." And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the moment John Legend found himself stalked by a cardboard cutout of Blake Shelton.

Spooky? Yes. Hilarious? Also yes! Forget the jack o'lanterns, people — this year's hot Halloween decoration is Blake Shelton!

"Well, you know, he’s been doing this show for 22 Seasons, it’ll be 23 when he’s done, and you can’t do something forever,” Legend said last year following the announcement of Shelton's impending exit. "We're gonna miss him though. He's been the heart and soul and anchor of the show for a long time, and he's a friend of mine, and I really enjoy working with him."

How to watch The Voice Season 24

New episodes of The Voice air on NBC every Monday and Tuesday 8 p.m. EST before hitting Peacock the next day. Season 23 (the final go-around for OG Coach Blake Shelton) can be found on Peacock.
