After five seasons and countless Hawaii sunsets, Magnum P.I. concluded with a riveting series finale.
NBC's new Magnum P.I. has officially come to an end after five seasons. The series finale was full of surprises, including an unexpected proposal.
Below, read on to learn what happened during the two-hour Magnum P.I. series finale.
Magnum P.I. series finale recap: Higgins found an engagement ring
Magnum (Jay Hernandez) and Higgins (Perdita Weeks) were kissing in bed before getting ready for a night with Rick Wright (Zachary Knighton) and Suzy (Betsy Phillips). After Magnum jumped in the shower, Higgins opened his dresser drawer to a shocking discovery: a dazzling diamond engagement ring. Cue Miggins fans freaking out everywhere—it seems Magnum wants to propose!
After Magnum got a call about a new client, Higgins welcomed the distraction as she silently panicked about the ring.
Magnum and Higgins talked about the engagement ring
Magnum noticed Higgins was acting strange. He asked her what was wrong, but he soon deduced the reason: She'd found the ring and was spiraling. Magnum put her worries at ease by revealing the ring was for Rick, who was planning to propose to Suzy that week. Higgins was relieved to hear this, but her uneasiness at the thought of marriage concerned Magnum.
A Magnum P.I. happily ever after at La Mariana
Rick proposed to Suzy, she accepted, and the friends gathered to celebrate at La Mariana. Everywhere Magnum looked, his friends were heading onwards and upwards. T.C. (Stephen Hill) had plans to expand his helicopter company. Rick and Suzy were in love and on their way to the altar. But what was next for him? Where did he and Higgins stand? Her reaction to the thought of marrying Magnum didn't make him feel very good.
Thankfully, they were able to clear the air. Higgins realized her panic over a shared future with Magnum was unwarranted, and she apologized for her strange response to the ring.
"About the marriage thing," Higgins said. "It's just that piece has been very rare in my life. And what we have together is so perfect that the idea of changing anything is terrifying."
"I get it," Magnum nodded. "But you don't have anything to worry about. I'm in no rush to change anything at all."
Higgins took a beat before telling Magnum, "Well, just for the record, if in the future you did ask me to marry you, I'd say yes."
Magnum and Higgins shared a heartwarming kiss as they danced surrounded by their loved ones. At last, the waters are calm on Magnum P.I., and fans can rest easy.
