Gwen Stefani Reveals 1 Good Thing About Doing The Voice Without Blake Shelton

Season 24 of The Voice marks Stefani's first time on the show without Shelton.

By Jackie Manno

Blake Shelton is no longer a Coach on The Voice, which means Season 24 (premiering in September) will be Gwen Stefani's first time on the show without her husband. And while the "True Babe" singer will miss his presence, she still has her eyes on the prize.

How to Watch

Watch The Voice Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

While appearing on Lorraine in June 2023, Stefani said it will be "weird" coaching on The Voice without Shelton in Season 24. However, there's one slight upside to his absence: less competition.

"Hopefully, it'll give me a chance to win, so there's that," Stefani said cheekily.

Stefani won The Voice once in Season 19 with Carter Rubin. Meanwhile, Shelton ended his run on the show with a whopping nine wins in Seasons 2, 3, 4, 7, 11, 13, 18, 20, and 22

Stefani returns to The Voice Season 24 this fall with Coaches Reba McEntireJohn Legend, and Niall Horan. It premieres Monday, September 25 at 8/7c on NBC and streams next day on Peacock

Shelton announced in fall 2022 that Season 23 of The Voice would be his last. One reason for his departure is so he can spend more time with his family.

In a November 2022 interview with Extra, Stefani explained why she supported Shelton's decision. “I think that Blake – I don’t know, I think he just wants more time, you know what I mean?" she said. "I don’t know that people realize, if he’s doing two seasons a year, right? In between that, he’s touring. So he actually has two teams at the same time at a certain point, so they overlap. So it’s a lot of brain power, it’s a lot of time away from the family, those kinds of things. I think he just got to a point where he just wants time in his ranch, like time to just do the other things that he loves to do."

She continued, “And I’m totally speaking for you, Blake, sorry! I’m married to you so I can say whatever I want! But it's just, I’m excited for him because, you know, we have lives outside of work, and it’s a really good life, it's really fun, and we have so much fun! We have Oklahoma, which is something I never knew I needed and wanted, you know? We planted a garden, we do all kinds of fun stuff. So we’re looking forward to doing some of that family stuff together. It's 'gonna be great."
