Darci Lynne's Pitch-Perfect Yodeling Is Somehow More Impressive Than Her Singing

The America's Got Talent Season 12 winner nailed the difficult vocal technique.

By Jackie Manno

America's Got Talent Season 12 winner Darci Lynne can pull any genre of music off. Exhibit A: She once used her signature ventriloquism Act to show off her impressive yodeling skills.

How to Watch

Watch the Season 19 premiere of America’s Got Talent Tuesday, May 28 at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock

When Lynne was performing in Reno, she brought out her pal, Katie the Yodeling Puppet, who helped amp up the crowd before they launched into a song called "Yodeling Cowgirls."

During the song, Lynne used the puppet to do the most impressive vocal yodeling flips, all without moving her mouth. What can't she do?

Darci Lynne on stage during AGT Fantasy League Episode 104

Darci Lynne on America's Got Talent: Fantasy League

Lynne made a return to the AGT universe in 2024 when she did a jaw-dropping performance on America's Got Talent: Fantasy League. Competing under Heidi Klum's team, Lynne said about her AGT next chapter, “America choosing me to come back as one of their favorite Acts is a really big honor. I think it is a little pressuring though. I feel like I have to live up to what I did when I was 12. But I just don’t want to be put into a box, and so for my performance tonight, I’m doing something different. I think people are gonna be surprised.”

She sang a rendition of "I've Got the Music in Me" by The Kiki Dee Bang. She used her beloved puppet Petunia to handle the introduction, then in a twist, whipped out a guitar and started playing some badass chords. (Watch in the video above.)

"Dacri, I think that you are absolutely fantastic. I’m glad you didn’t abandon Petunia all the way because this is how we fell in love with you,” Klum said while giving feedback. "I'm so happy that you're back here on our stage."

"There are very few people in the world who can do what you do." Judge Simon Cowell said, calling Lynne's ventriloquism her "unique selling point," and encouraging her to lean into it during her Acts.
