Go Inside the Set of Found with Shanola Hampton — Including Sir's Creepy Cabin

Gabi Mosely runs her high-powered crisis management firm in a northern city, but the series is actually often filmed somewhere further south.

NBC’s edgy new crime drama Found delves into the dark world of missing people as Gabi Mosely’s public relations firm focuses on the cases that otherwise might slip through the cracks.

How to Watch

Watch Found on NBC and Peacock.

Led by Gabi (Shanola Hampton), once a kidnapping victim herself, the highly skilled team of unconventional investigators will stop at nothing to bring those missing home. However, Gabi has a secret: She's hiding the man who once abducted her, Sir (Mark-Paul Gosselaar), captive in her basement. The tables have turned: Now, Sir has to help her find other missing people. It's a secret that could destroy Gabi if it came out.

So far, the Found team seems to only do local cases. But where is the show set?

Where does Found take place?

Found takes place in Washington, D.C.

Where is Found filmed?

Much of Found is actually shot in Georgia, according to the southern state’s filmography. With four million square feet of stage space, production-friendly policies, and liaisons to help film crews with permitting laws, Georgia has become an appealing production site for television and film.

“With its temperate climate, great variety of locations, the world’s busiest airport (Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport), large crew base, and pro-business focus, Georgia is now a leading destination in the world for filming,” the state’s website boasts.

Hampton highlighted the craft necessary to bring Gabi’s world to life in a behind-the-scenes look at the sets used to create some of Gabi’s most memorable places in a new video tour, including the creepy cabin where she was held captive for more than a year by her sophisticated kidnapper known as Sir.

“I’m going to show you around the set of Found,” Hampton said from a director’s chair as she waved her hands to the production set behind her.

The first stop: Gabi’s home. Shots of the updated space, complete with cozy living room fireplace and sleek white kitchen, were juxtaposed with scenes from the series where Gabi is inside the space. (Noticeably absent from the tour is the basement where a chained Sir is now being held captive in Gabi’s home after she turned the tables on him).

The feel of her comfortable abode is a stark contrast to the dilapidated cabin where Gabi was held 20 years earlier after being kidnapped by Sir. The interior space has blankets hanging on the walls, boarded-up windows, an outdated kitchen table, bookshelves lined with books, and even a makeshift living room.

After kidnapping the young Gabi (A’zaria Carter), Sir set out to create a new family for the teen, attempting to create a home-like space in the isolated cabin. He even eventually kidnapped another young girl, Bella (Jasmine Washington), and presented her as the “most important present” in his delusional efforts to make Gabi feel at home.

His plan backfired, however, and Bella’s arrival at the cabin prompted Gabi to fight against her captor using one of the frying pans hanging on the wall to knock him out and free both girls. The same rows of pans the girls used to make their escape are visible in the tour through the space.

“Thanks so much for coming behind the scenes with me, and make sure to watch Found only on NBC and the next day on Peacock,” Hampton concluded the tour.
