Sydney Sweeney and Michael Longfellow Star in the World's Shortest Rom-Com in SNL Promo

Sweeney, who hosts Saturday Night Live on March 2 with musical guest Kacey Musgraves, has a rom-com meet cute (kind of) in a new promo.

The romantic comedy Anyone But You is a bona fide hit, crossing the $200 million mark at the box office in February. The success officially makes Sydney Sweeney, who toplines the film with Glen Powell, a rom-com *star*—and the actress, who hosts Saturday Night Live on March 2, stumbled right into a meet-cute on the Studio 8H stage in a new promo. Her potential love interest? None other than Season 49 cast member Michael Longfellow.

How to Watch

Watch Saturday Night Live Saturdays at 11:30/10:30c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

The only problem is, Sweeney doesn't seem to know the meet cute is happening. Romance is complicated!

Sweeney and Longfellow's meet-cute kicks off in classic style: They bump into each other, as they're both preoccupied with SNL prep.

"Not funny....Not funny. Too funny," Longfellow says, as he walks and reviews a script at the same time. When he clashes with Sweeney, her book falls to the ground: Haruki Murakami's novel Kafka on the Shore.

"You know, this is one of my favorite books of all time," Longfellow says, gazing at the cover as the lights change to a romantic purple hue and romantic music swells in the background. "This is crazy, uh, but would you ever maybe want to..." That's when Longfellow looks up to realize he's eating Sweeney's dust.

"Oh, she left a while ago. Cool! Whatever," Longfellow mutters. "I didn’t like this book, anyways."

He waves off the dramatic music as it starts up again. "No! She said no. Didn’t work," Longfellow says. "Thank you, though."

To be fair, both Scarlett Johansson and Emma Stone met their husbands on the SNL set when they were Hosts, so you can't blame a guy for trying.
