On September 22, the deluxe version of Clarkson's newest album Chemistry was released, and it includes vocals from her 9-year-old daughter, River Rose, who was only 5 at the time of the recording.

The song, titled "You Don't Make Me Cry," features River Rose ad-libbing some notes over a piano during the intro. River Rose's voice can also be heard in the background during the catchy pre-chorus, plus, there's a cute bit of her saying, "The end" during the song's final line.

When Clarkson was on TODAY the same day the song was released, she talked about how River Rose put her creativity into the production of the track.

"We were in the studio when we were in Encino [California], and she came in. She's 9 now, but she was 5 years old on this track. That's how old that song is," Clarkson said. "I recorded it that long ago. And we just loved it, and it fit in with the record, and she came in to the studio and she said: 'Can I sing?' and so my producer just took my vocal off completely and just let her sing on the track. And the whole track is so cute," she explained.

Clarkson's son, 7-year-old Remington, is also a fan of the tune. "She calls it her song, by the way. Even my son's like: 'Can you play River's song?' Like alright, slow down," she said with a chuckle.

Kelly Clarkson's thoughts on River Rose and Remington's future careers

When asked about whether or not she thinks River Rose and Remington would follow her footsteps and enter show business as their careers, Clarkson had mixed thoughts.

"Whatever [they] want to do. I mean, it's hard for me to sit here and go, 'Don't do this. It's a hard industry,' because I'm in it. But I do think, kids that grow up in it, it's hard for them not to be inspired by it or want to be a part of it, so I kind of understand if they do," she said.

"But also, like, be a teacher, or a doctor, or anything else!" she joked.
