By Jackie Manno

October 10 marked the 29th birthday of Chicago Fire star Daniel Kyri, who plays Darren Ritter. To celebrate the occasion, his dear friend and co-star Hanako Greensmith (Violet Mikami) took to her official Instagram page to give him the best shoutout.

How to Watch

Watch Chicago Fire Wednesdays at 9/8c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

On her Stories, Greensmith posted a picture of Kyri sitting leisurely in some grass before we caught a glimpse of him relaxing on a boat and standing on a beach. Then, we saw him getting his groove on a bar, before she shared a snapshot of him boarding an airplane.

"That's right mfers. It's the king's BURRDAYY!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is an icon. He is the moment. And I feel so lucky to have him in my life. Hips and ALL, honey!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, love u," Greensmith affectionately wrote over the posts.

Happy birthday Daniel!

Kyri and Greensmith have the best friendship. In April 2023, Greensmith posted 10-month-old vacation photos of the two traveling together in Greece. In the artsy snapshot, Kyri rocked some shades while standing in front of a historical site on a bright, sunny day.

Daniel Kyri talks about Ritter on Chicago Fire

In a 2022 interview with Looper, Kyri opened up about what motivates Ritter's actions psychologically on the show.

"Ritter is the kind of guy whose heart is on his sleeve and there is a sense of presence and vulnerability to the way in which he carries himself," he told the outlet. "Whether it's on the job, in the action, you see moments of him interacting with some of the victims on the show or some of the folks that they're rescuing and there's always a sense of humanity and connection for him. Even in the midst of the bigger job, which is 'got to put the fire out, got to save the people, got to do all the things,' he always has that moment of connection. That is because he's such a heart-on-the-sleeve kind of guy."

He continued, "Darren Ritter has a great sense of intuition about people and about what they might be going through, and that is because he is a person who has encountered mental health crises in the past, personally, like with his deceased uncle. That actually has a bigger bearing on how he moves through the world than we might be able to pick up on the surface, so, maybe it's not the world's most surprising thing, but it is something that I think is always sort of present."
