Best Of Blake Shelton: Celebrating His Final Season On 'The Voice'

Blake Shelton has won The Voice nine times in his many years as a coach, and though he wondered at the time what his Season 13 winner Chloe Kohanski would do next, it’s no surprise she’s still releasing her own music 10 seasons later.

How to Watch

Watch The Voice Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

Kohanski won for Team Blake in December 2017, after Shelton picked her up when her first coach, Miley Cyrus, chose to eliminate her in the Knockout Round. She covered hit after hit on her way to the top, including Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide,” Bonnie Tyler’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart” and Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game” (which was just covered again by Gina Miles in Season 23). Kohanski and her coach also performed “You Got It” during her Season 13 run. She spoke highly of the country singer after winning and explained why he’s been such a successful coach.

“He kind of just celebrates each artist for who they are, and he lets them just do their thing,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “Kinda just like, ‘OK here you go, I don’t really understand what you’re wearing or why your hair is so big but I want you to just do your thing.’”

Since winning the show, Kohanski has changed her stage name to “Chloe MK,” and signed to Republic Records, according to Talent Recap. She also released her first single, “Come This Far,” which she performed during the Season 13 finale. She has about 22,600 monthly listeners on Spotify, and her top hits include “Cosmic,” a 2020 single, and “David Bowie” from her 2019 EP Fantasy. She also released the single “My Other Friend” in 2022.

In 2020, she began releasing her music independently, according to an interview she did with The Luna Collective in November 2021.

“I wanted to bring rock music back into pop culture, and that was getting lost in translation,” Kohanski told The Luna Collective while reflecting on her life after winning The Voice. “From 2017 to 2019, I was trying to figure it all out and hold onto anything I could. I felt that I had to keep up this perfect persona, and I wish I could’ve been more authentic. I feel a lot of this had to happen to get me to the point where I’m now making music I actually want to listen to.”

She said after being signed to a major label as a pop artist, she realized soon after she wanted to go in a different direction.

“I started with the big, and now I’m going back to the homegrown DIY (do it yourself),” she told the Luna Collective. “That starting point was around me the whole time, but I just didn’t know it was going to be my path. … I get so excited when I think about the music I am making moving forward.”

Kohanski said during the interview she’ll be releasing her music, like her latest album, All The Same, All Ok?, through her vanity label that she’s named “Special Baby.”
