Hear the Runs That Took “Formidable, Undeniable” AZÁN From Eliminated to the Lives

Behold the greatest comeback story ever featured on The Voice!

By Josh Weiss

As a first-time Super Save, AZÁN may have had more to prove on Tuesday night's episode of The Voice than all of her fellow contestants combined.

How to Watch

Watch The Voice Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

"It’s just been a whole emotional roller coaster of a journey," the 28-year-old Dallas musician said, referring to how she initially joined Team Legend after Blinds, was stolen over to Team Niall during Battles, eliminated following a Knockout with Nini Iris, and then brought back to Team Legend via the new Super Save rule. But as someone who had already gone home, AZÁN was going to need to bring her A-game (and then some) for a chance to move on to the final round.

“AZÁN’s voice is silly smooth. She has a really soulful, Neo-soul vibe," Legend explained of his choice to reinstate her competitor status. "But also, she’s my favorite live performer out of all my Artists, so I had to bring her back to Team Legend with my Super Save!”

AZÁN landed on Miguel's "Adorn" for her redemptive performance because of how "the song is about making somebody feel even more beautiful than they already are by loving them," she said. "I know with my spouse, I want them to feel like they’re on top of the world all the time. As an artist, I’m a big lyricist. I’m all about falling in love and passionate, soulful songs. I just want to showcase that to the world, I want people to feel me when I sing this song."

In one of the greatest comeback stories ever to be featured over the last 24 seasons of the hit NBC series, AZÁN was chosen as a member of the Top 12 moving into the Live Shows. Legend, a self-proclaimed perfectionist, had zero notes, hailing her performance as flawless.

"That was literally perfect," the Coach said. "There is nothing that I would edit, change, and I’m always editing and changing. For you to completely nail it A-plus-plus, 100 percent, you just made a great statement for yourself. You are formidable, undeniable. You are a real talent and I am so impressed with you."

“That was your best performance by miles," echoed Niall Horan, who ultimately found himself at a loss words. "I’m so glad that John had the Super Save and you’re still here. The runs... so tasteful. Wow, just whoo!”

AZÁN will move on to the Lives with fellow Team Legend hopefuls Mac Royals (who sang D’Angelo's "Untitled) and Lila Forde (“Angel from Montgomery” by Bonnie Raitt & John Prine).

“I am so glad I picked AZÁN as my Super Save," Legend concluded. "She walks out there with such stage presence. It’s sexy, it’s silky smooth. What a moment to have your best performance of the competition."

Will John Legend take home his second victory as Coach? Find out by tuning in to The Voice Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC, and streaming next day on Peacock.
