John Legend Became Speechless When Meeting Prince at an After-Party

Who can blame him?

John Is Back for Another Legendary Season

Fans of The Voice see countless starstruck moments during the Blind Auditions, when the lineup of Contestants finally meet the Voice Coaches. No one can blame them, obviously; they're face-to-face with some of the music industry's top professionals! That's why it's fun to think about one of The Voice's most legendary Coaches getting starstruck himself.

Ahead of the Voice premiere on Monday, September 19 at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock, Coach John Legend is letting fans in on a time when he was starstruck.

"The first time I was starstruck was when I met Prince at an after-party after he has performed at Madison Square Garden," the Voice Coach reveals. "Who wouldn't be starstruck while meeting Prince?"

Legend has a fair point: the Purple Rain singer boasts countless iconic hits, 42 studio albums, and an impressive trophy case filled with seven Grammys.

"One of the greatest pop musicians of all time," Legend continues. "So, I had gone and seen this incredible show. He was signed to the same label I was signed to at the time. And I got to meet him! My jaw was on the floor, I couldn't say anything."

It might be difficult for Voice viewers to imagine an inarticulate Legend, but hey, we all have our idols out there, and that includes the seven-time Voice Coach. "I didn't have much to say because I was genuinely awestruck, starstruck, all of that!" Legend reveals.

Voice fans are thrilled to see a new season of starstruck moments when Legend, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, and new Coach Camila Cabello return for Season 22. Who will be the Coach to take home the season win? Only time will tell, so let the countdown to September 19th begin!
