She knew her abductor — and he knew what made her vulnerable.

How to Watch

Watch Found on NBC and Peacock.

Found, which airs Tuesdays at 10/9c on NBC, has delivered one twist after another as we’ve gotten to know kidnap survivor-turned recovery expert Gabi Mosely (Shanola Hampton).

One recent stunning reveal is that Gabi knew Sir (Mark-Paul Gosselaar), who kidnapped her 20 years ago and is now chained up by her in her basement to help solve her cases, before he even abducted her.

Sir, whose real name is Hugh Evans, was one of Gabi’s high school teachers. In an insidious betrayal, he took her captive by preying upon her love of learning and baiting her with books.

How Sir Kidnapped Gabi on Found

Sir recognized that Gabi was a very bright student the minute she stepped into his English literature class. He also knew she had an insatiable appetite for reading.

So, he used that against her. As school was breaking, Sir asked Gabi if she’d like to borrow books from his home collection, which featured rare, first-edition volumes. It was an offer Gabi couldn't refuse.

In a flashback to 2002 seen on Episode 11, Gabi enters Sir's home and is amazed by all the books.

“You’re sure I can borrow any book I want?” she asks.

“It’s why we’re here,” he responds.

But of course, that’s not the real reason he’s brought Gabi to this off-the-grid farmhouse that becomes her prison.

The conversation then takes an unsettling turn from books to boys.

Sir chides Gabi for what he’s perceived as her growing interest in Justin, her classmate.

“Justin and I are just friends,” she says with quiet anger. “No offense, but my friends aren't really your concern.”

She expresses that she wants to go home — now. But Sir stalls and tries to depict Gabi as his kindred spirit. He brings up their shared love for books and how his “lonely childhood” is like hers and that her father “abandoned her.”

Gabi is horrified by the accusation about her father, but Sir persists.

“We’re connected. We’re family,” he tells Gabi.

Gabi then screams as he grabs her, snarling, “This is for your own good.”

Tied to a chair, Gabi pleads with her teacher to let her go “Mr. Evans!” she screams as he’s seen installing a series of locks on the door to the room that becomes her cell. It’s just like the locks Gabi has on the door to her basement now, where Sir has been her captive for over eight months.

This is where we will complete your education,” he says, adding that he’s her teacher and she’s his student.

In a voice cold as ice, her captor then says, “From now on, call me Sir.”
