Christopher Meloni recently reunited with his former Law & Order: Special Victims Unit costar, Tamara Tunie!

How to Watch

Watch Law & Order: Special Victims Unit Thursdays on NBC and next day on Peacock.

On March 2, Meloni took to his official Instagram page to post a selfie of himself with his wife, Sherman, Tunie, and others all smiling at the camera.

The group got together for a good cause; they were attending an event for 1 Million Strong, which is a platform for those in the music industry to support those struggling with addiction. Meloni posted two videos from the event sitting in the audience and rocking out to some tunes.

“#Sohosessions for #1millionstrong TY @rwepartners @gwilliamson79 @msttunie @nicole.rechter Great cause Great nite” Meloni captioned the post.

Fans were more than excited to see Tamara Tunie and Christopher Meloni together. “Omg, you and Tamara!!” one user put in the comments section. “Tamara Tunie in the place with style and grace!” another added.

Who is Tamara Tunie?

Tamara Tunie is an actress who played the role of a NYPD medical examiner Dr. Melinda Warner on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit from 2000 to 2021. (Fun fact: She also played this role in a Season 3 episode of Chicago Fire!)

Tunie’s most recent major project was that of Whitney Houston’s mother, Cissy Houston, in the biopic I Wanna Dance With Somebody.

“What I look for more is the essence of the person: There might be one or two things that are significantly them–a quirk, something that they do. What I try to do is land on that but then allow myself the freedom to go, ‘What if they were in this situation?’” Tunie told The Guardian about her acting process.

Tunie got her start at the prestigious Carnegie Mellon University drama school and made her first Broadway appearance in 1985. “I was classically trained. I wanted to do Shakespeare, I wanted to do straight plays, film, and television. So for a good eight years or so I didn’t sing at all,” she said. "A lot of people don’t know that I sing, but the music that inspires me is in the jazz vein. Cissy Houston is more an amazing singer of gospel and R&B,” she added of her vocal performance in I Wanna Dance With Somebody.

Watch Law & Order: SVU on NBC Thursdays at 9/8c and next day on Peacock. And be sure to watch Meloni on Law & Order: Organized Crime on NBC Thursdays at 10/9c and next day on Peacock.
