But the former Coach on The Voice sports a few tattoos that are striking in their simplicity, and each one has a touching and symbolic meaning. From his first time getting inked at age 20, Jonas has always chosen designs that remind him of something powerful in his life and bonds with loved ones.
What are Nick Jonas' tattoos, and what do they mean?
In 2012, the New Jersey native received his first tattoo on his forearm: the word “mercy” in a flow-y script with a “y” creating an infinity symbol. The symbol, which looks like an “8” on its side, is known to represent timeliness, eternity, and a never-ending cycle. He first revealed the tattoo on his Instagram in October 2021 with the caption “Mercy Forever.”
In the summer of 2013, Jonas debuted another tattoo on Instagram with the caption, "God is greater than the highs and lows." The four mysterious symbols were decoded by Body Art Guru. Jonas chose the letter G written in a geometric style, followed by an arrow pointing right, an arrow pointing up, and an arrow pointing down. The Jonas Brothers' dad, Kevin, is a former pastor and Christian songwriter, and Nick has spoken several times through the years about his faith.
Next up, in 2016, Nick and his brother Joe got matching arrow tattoos on the back of their arms that point at each other.

A rift between the three brothers in 2013 caused the band to split up, and the JoBros reached a point where they were only communicating through their dad, according to a recent Billboard article. Amid the six-year-long breakup, Nick and Joe had reconnected and spent some quality time together. The two brothers went for matching tattoos just a few hours before the 2016 MTV Music Video Awards. Joe and his DNCE band members took home the Best New Artist award that night.
During a Wired video interview in 2017, where Nick answered the Internet’s most searched questions about himself, the youngest Jonas brother said they got the arrows “so when we stand back-to-back, we got each other’s backs.”
While Joe has a special place in Nick’s heart (and on his body), Nick also shares a matching tattoo with his wife, Priyanka Chopra Jonas. The actress described the tattoos as checkboxes and checkmarks (hers behind each ear and his on each arm) inspired by Nick’s marriage proposal in Crete in July 2018.
During her Pieces of Me video for British Vogue, Chopra elaborated on the adorable backstory: “When he proposed, he asked me that I checked all his boxes, and would I check another one?”
The couple married on December 1, 2018, and welcomed their daughter, Malti Marie Chopra Jonas, via surrogate, in January 2022.
