Kodi Lee Has the Sweetest Message For His Mom This Valentine's Day
Kodi Lee says this song reminds him of her! Watch America's Got Talent: All-Stars on NBC.
The ultra-talented singer and pianist told Deseret News that his favorite love song is “I Love You Always Forever” by Donna Lewis. And the reason for his fondness of the tune is super sweet: it reminds him of his mother, Tina Lee!
“It’s my favorite love song because my mommy sang that song to me, my whole life, even as a baby!” Lee sweetly told Deseret News in an email. “It makes me feel loved and secure that my momma will always love me and be there for me.”
Lee, who has blindness and autism, was a musical prodigy from a young age. “We found out that he loved music really early on. He listened and his eyes just went huge. And he started singing, and that’s when I was in tears,” Tina Lee said during his initial AGT Audition. “Cause that’s what I realized: ‘Oh my gosh, he’s an entertainer.’ So, it actually has saved his life, playing music.”
Lee then sang an absolutely sensational rendition of “A Song For You” by Donny Hathaway while playing the piano.
“Kodi is one of the most amazing Auditions I’ve ever witnessed. I will never forget that moment. I mean it was incredible,” Judge Simon Cowell said while recalling his favorite AGT Auditions. "'Magic' is the only world I can use."
“When he opened his mouth to sing, we were transfixed,” Host Terry Crews added.
Unsurprisingly, Lee went on to win Season 14 of AGT.
"I think I was the nervous one when we came to AGT, and he was an excited young man ready to show the world what he had," said Tina Lee. "I didn't even know what to expect... When he won, the first thing that popped in my mind was, 'The whole world just won.' I get to see him live a life like everybody else."
An undeniable fan favorite, Lee then went on to return to America’s Got Talent: All-Stars in 2023, determined to take home another win. For his Audition, he sang a show-stopping version of “Biblical” by Calum Scott and ended up getting voted into the Finals. “You are truly amazing. You’re truly an all-star,” Judge Howie Mandel said.
