Kelly Clarkson Changed the Lyrics of 'Since U Been Gone' For Tom Brady

Kelly Clarkson hosted the NFL Honors 2023 ceremony on February 9 and absolutely stole the show. During one bit, a very special guest joined her onstage to help recreate one of her classic songs with a sports-inspired twist.
“I’m sorry, Kelly, I just wanted to sing one quick tribute song to Tom Brady on behalf of all other quarterbacks in our league” Minnesota Vikings player Kirk Cousins said as he stepped onstage while Clarkson was hosting.
“Alright, sure,” Clarkson responded. “Shine bright like a diamond! OK, OK!"
“Tom’s won seven times, went to 10,” Cousins then sang to the tune of Clarkson’s hit “Since U Been Gone.”
“He’s on some beach so maybe Kurt could win, yeah, yeah, since he’s been gone” he continued.
“First of all, you can really sing! What?!” Clarkson exclaimed, taken aback. “Hold on, though, that doesn’t really sound like a tribute. That kind of just sounds like you’re happy Brady is gone because it gives you and the other teams a better shot. I am totally for this. I think Brady’s retirement is good for him, great for us."
“Because…c’mon Kelly. Everybody wants to hear you sing, not me. Let's go!” Cousins said, cueing the music once again.
“Cause now that he’s gone, teams have hope for the first time,” Clarkson joined in with her signature powerful vocals.
“Brady’s moving on, yeah yeah, for the GOAT, that’s a wrap, now he just posts thirst traps,” she sang with a sly smirk on her face. Watch the lyrical change-up for yourself in the video, below:
During the NFL Honors Awards, Kelly Clarkson also rocked a Dallas Cowboys dress. The ballgown had a navy blue satin skirt with striped patterns and the names of players sewn into the fabric, while she sported a long-sleeved jersey top with the number 88 in the center.
“Thank you so much @NFL honors! I had such a good time hosting tonight. See you at the Super Bowl!” she posted photos of the dress on her official Instagram page. (See the full look here).
