Ultimately, it was revealed that Joe Jr. had become addicted to heroin while serving in Afghanistan and was convicted for possessing a non-military-issue knife. Once he was released and dishonorably discharged, he joined the organization led by "Redcoat."

Stabler went undercover in an attempt to infiltrate the group of former Marines, but lost a detective in the process. He did, however, help his brother get clean, after which Joe became an informant for the OCCB. However, the season ended on May 16, 2024 with Joe on a plane with the leader of the militia, strapped to a delivery of chemical weapons.

Stabler also crossed paths with Benson on several occasions, and many viewers are perched to see where their decades-long friendship goes next.

"I like the serialized nature of the storytelling," Meloni told Nerds of Color about why Organized Crime has become such a phenomenon. "It gives us a little more operating room to dig into relationships and dig into the story, it’s as simple as that. I just really enjoy living that kind of storytelling."

"It’s great to wake up every day and have a challenge because it is," Meloni continued. "You’re going there to fix things, it’s a rare day where you’re like, 'Oh, the scene is perfect. Everything’s perfect.' You’re always just fixing, tinkering, and that’s it. So that takes all your energy, and that’s interesting. But the crew, and I feel it’s reciprocated, it really is just a great atmosphere to go, and try and create in with these people. Then you get to work with the people and you get the great guest stars."
