John Larroquette Was Persuaded by Melissa Rauch to Return to Night Court

After three decades of waiting and watching hilarious reruns, Night Court is back in session on NBC

How to Watch

Watch Night Court on NBC and Peacock.

The new Night Courtwhich premiered January 2023, follows the night shift of a courtroom, led by Judge Harry T. Stone’s daughter, Abby (Melissa Rauch). Abby hilariously struggles to balance upholding her father's legacy and managing the endless rotation of eccentric characters entering the courtroom, and it makes for some seriously funny TV.

Rauch is joined by a star-studded cast of both characters from the original series and new faces that assist her as she tackles day-to-day cases. One of these new characters is ADA Olivia Moore, played by India de Beaufort, who you may recognize from another NBC series.

Who is India de Beaufort on Night Court

Beaufort plays Assistant District Attorney Olivia Moore in the new Night Court. While Abby Stone brings sunshine to the courtroom, Olivia brings an aloof and assertive attitude. Olivia is hard-working and endlessly ambitious, but it seems like she is often her own biggest roadblock to further success. Olivia looks at the night court as one step of a bigger journey toward making change, even if the courtroom can get a tad eccentric in the late hours.

In an interview with Nerds and Beyond, Beaufort revealed that playing Olivia is a dream come true. "It is one of the greatest challenges you will ever have," she said. "To make a live audience laugh is one of the hardest things you can do, and it really stretches your skill set to the furthest it can be stretched. Then, on top of that, you take something like Night Court, which has its own legacy as this loved television show, that has all of these incredible die-hard fans, and this unbelievable cast–and I think it’s won 30-plus Emmys in the course of its run. Somebody gives you the opportunity to do your dream job and then have it be the revival of Night Court? To me, it’s an absolute no-brainer."

Outside her role as Olivia on Night Court, Beaufort played Layla Roslyn in Chicago P.D. during the second season. Layla was a widow who got tangled in the Windy City's dark underbelly and ended up providing the CPD with much-needed evidence. Some of Beaufort's other notable projects include playing Charlie in Netflix's Firefly Lane, as well as recurring roles in Veep, Jane by Design, NCIS: Los Angeles, and Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist. With a mix of comedic and dramatic roles under her belt, Beaufort is the perfect candidate for a courtroom comedy.

Watch Night Court Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.
