A Complete Timeline of Camila Cabello's Career
From The X-Factor to her solo career, here is how Camila Cabello found her way to the 22nd season of The Voice.

The Voice Season 22 premieres Monday, September 19 at 8/7c on NBC, and it's welcoming a brand-new Coach: pop icon Camila Cabello.
It's no surprise the 25-year-old singer was chosen for the gig. As one of the most successful Artists of her generation, she knows what it takes to make it in music, and her vocal chops are undeniable. Here’s exactly how Cabello found her way to The Voice—from one small-screen stage to another.
The X-Factor
Cabello is no stranger to the talent competition show universe, getting her start by auditioning for The X-Factor in 2012. AGT Judge Simon Cowell created The X-Factor and was a Judge during Cabello's season. He played a major role behind Cabello’s big break.
How, you ask? Well, Cowell found Cabello crying backstage after she was told she wasn’t allowed to audition; however, he was able to pull some strings and get her a slot. After she was eliminated as a solo Contestant, Cowell believed in her talent so strongly that he helped form the all-girl ensemble Fifth Harmony so she could compete in the group category, and the rest is history.
Fifth Harmony
After the 2012 season of The X-Factor concluded and Fifth Harmony came in third place, the group went on to achieve massive success. They signed to Cowell’s record label and released their debut album, Reflection, in 2015, and 7/27 a year later. Their hits include “Worth It” and “Work From Home,” which both made waves on the USA Billboard Top 40 charts. Cabello announced her departure from the group in 2016.
Solo Career
Cabello's debut solo album, Camila, reached number one on the Billboard 200 and featured the smash hit singles “Havana" and “Never Be the Same."
Her second album, 2019's Romance, included "Señorita," another song that stampeded the charts. Her third album, Familia, dropped in April 2022.
The Voice
In May 2022, it was announced that Cabello will join the Coaches lineup on Season 22 of The Voice. This won’t be the first time audiences have seen her on the show, as she was an Advisor during Season 21.
There’s no doubt Cabello will be a perfect fit for the show. In fact, established Coaches John Legend and Gwen Stefani both have nothing but positive things to say about this exciting new addition. “I think she’s gonna be a great Coach,” Stefani eagerly commented.
Meanwhile, Legend told NBC Insider, "She was on Team Legend as my celebrity guest mentor, and I could tell she was really good at it. In fact, I told her, 'If a Coach opening ever comes up, you should do it because you'd be great at it.'"
Let the countdown to Cabello's Voice Coach debut begin!
