Why Gwen Stefani Says She Found 'the Winner' of The Voice With Daysia
The young singer sparked another couple's battle between Stefani and Blake Shelton.
Seventeen-year-old Daysia wowed the Voice Coaches during her Blind Audition, which aired on Monday, October 3rd—so much so that both Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani turned around.
"That's crazy," Camila Cabello said after learning Daysia's age. "You sound like a grown-ass woman!"
"I'm excited," John Legend said, "because you have two great choices here."
"Mom and dad!" Stefani chimed in, referencing her and Shelton's relationship.
"I'm a little bit nervous right now because I don't think my wife's going to roll over on this one," Shelton said. "But I'm gonna fight!"
Stefani didn't back down, though, saying, "Let's see what fighting looks like in our marriage."
And fight they did. "I just thought you had an incredible voice," Shelton told Daysia. "You look like a star standing there. You do! You have this cool [energy] about you, and that's half of it. It really is...It's awkward for me to fight [with Gwen] in these situations, [but] I just wanna tell you that I'm a fan and I'm so glad that you're on the show, no matter what happens."
Of course, Stefani had equally as sweet things to say. "I really do love you. There is nobody on my team like you. I love the quality of your voice. You can do all the runs, but you also want to just tell a story. You just wanna speak from your heart. That's the kind of person I want to be around."
