Yes, Donald Faison's Wife CaCee Cobb Is Best Friends with Pop Royalty

Donald Faison raises a beautiful family with wife CaCee Cobb when he's not filming Extended Family.

By Caitlin Schunn

Donald Faison and his wife, CaCee Cobb, are still making moves together more than a decade after tying the knot and welcoming two children — this time buying a Los Angeles home together in 2023.

How to Watch

Watch Extended Family on NBC and Peacock.

The purchase comes as Faison joins Jon Cryer and Abigail Spencer in NBC’s new comedy, Extended Family, premiering right before Christmas. The show focuses on Jim (Cryer) and Julia (Spencer), a divorced couple amiably co-parenting their two children. However, tensions arise when Julia gets engaged to Trey (Faison), the owner of Jim's favorite sports team.

Extended Family is all about family and relationships. So, let's take a look back at Faison's beautiful relationship with his own wife, CaCee Cobb. Here's their relationship timeline.

Who is CaCee Cobb?

CaCee Cobb got her start as a Columbia Records employee before becoming a personal assistant to Jessica Simpson. She appeared on multiple reality shows centering Simpson, including Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica and The Price of Beauty.

In addition to being her personal assistant, Cobb also became good friends with the singer, and even moved in with Simpson and her then-husband, Nick Lachey, while filming Season 2 of Newlyweds in 2004, according to Us Weekly.

But the BFFs later had a falling out, according to Simpson’s 2020 memoir Open Book, because Cobb didn’t approve of Simpson’s decision to leave Lachey, or her choice to date John Mayer. Cobb quit as her assistant shortly after she became involved with Mayer, according to Simpson’s memoir, but they later renewed their friendship while working on Simpson’s country album in 2008, US WEEKLY reported.

Donald Faison’s Scrubs co-star and best friend Zach Braff played a part in Faison's love story with CaCee Cobb. The two first met at Braff’s 30th birthday party in 2005, according to the iHeart podcast Fake Doctors, Real Friends with Zach and Donald. After dating for six years, the two got engaged by August 2011, PEOPLE reported.

Braff is the one who made the announcement on X, formerly known as Twitter, when he posted, “Congrats to @donald_faison and @caceecobb on their engagement. Just wish I was there to run around you both with sparklers.”

Faison later posted, “If you like it then you better put a ring on it. Beyonce,” and Cobb replied, “If she likes it then she better say YES!!”

Although he announced on the Fake Doctors, Real Friends podcast the couple initially didn’t want to get married, Faison explained Cobb later changed her mind, and he agreed. He shared the two searched for the perfect ring together and visited several diamond vendors and jewelers in Los Angeles.

“I don’t remember if he got down on one knee, but I remember the box had a light in it, and the ring was spinning,” Cobb said on the podcast. “The best part was he was like, ‘I love you! I love you!’ and I was like, ‘Oh my god!’”

All About Donald Faison and CaCee Cobb's Wedding

The couple got married on Dec. 15, 2012 in Zach Braff’s backyard. He also served as a groomsman and walked Jessica Simpson down the aisle as Cobb’s maid of honor, E! News reported.

Simpson posted about the wedding on X, writing, “I was the maid of honor last night for my BF @caceecobb. She was the most beautiful bride I have ever seen in my life!”

The ceremony took place under a tent with twinkling white lights and a gospel choir, in front of 75 friends and family, E! News said. Guests included Ashlee Simpson, Seth Green, Faison’s Scrubs co-star Sarah Chalke, and his Clueless co-stars Breckin Meyer, Elisa Donovan, and Stacey Dash, PEOPLE reported.

“CaCee really wanted a Southern-styled backyard wedding,” Paige Appel of the event company behind the wedding said to PEOPLE. “She wanted it to feel down-home. Everyone was teary-eyed. It was very sweet.”

Cobb was walked down the aisle by her father in a strapless gown with her hair down and flowing, PEOPLE reported. She and Faison recited personal vows, and used the tradition of “jumping the broom” in the ceremony.

The reception menu was a nod to Cobb’s Texas roots, with fried chicken and collard greens served. Instead of a wedding cake, guests chose between apple pie, butterscotch pudding, and red velvet mini-cakes, PEOPLE said.

Simpson was among those who toasted the happy couple.

“Jessica mentioned how long she and CaCee have been best friends, and how honored she is that CaCee is godmother to her daughter,” Kelly Harris of the event company behind the wedding said to PEOPLE. “She said CaCee’s like her soul mate.”

Cobb in turn served as a bridesmaid in Simpson’s 2014 wedding to Eric Johnson, while wearing a custom Jason Wu gown, E! News reported.

Less than a year after saying their vows, Faison and Cobb welcomed their son, Rocco, in August 2013. While ABC News reported Faison posted on X he was “so in love,” his BFF Zach Braff responded to the birth by saying, “I will take it from here.”

Cobb announced on Instagram that Rocco would be a big brother a little more than a year later, on Oct. 21, 2014. She gave birth to daughter Wilder in April 2015. Cobb was pregnant at the same time as Simpson, who was also expecting her second child, son Ace, The Los Angeles Times reported.

The two have posted many pics of their adorable children over the years, including Wilder’s throwback to a famous Clueless Halloween costume in 2022. The 7-year-old dressed up in Stacey Dash’s iconic black-and-white plaid skirt, blazer and hat, with Faison dressed up as his character behind her on the stairs.

Extended Family premieres Saturday, December 23rd at 8/7c on NBC, with new weekly episodes returning Tuesday, January 2nd at 8:30/7:30c on NBC. All episodes will be available to stream next day on Peacock.
