New Technicolor Trolls Band Together Trailer Reunites *NSYNC for New Single

The Trolls are getting the band back together in Trolls Band Together — and real life.

By Shameika Rhymes

The holiday season will be a lot brighter with the action-packed, all-star, rainbow-colored fun of Trolls Band Together as Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake return for the new chapter in DreamWorks Animation’s blockbuster musical franchise.

And a brand-new installment in the Trolls universe isn't all fans have to look forward to.

It ain’t no lie, because we don’t have to say bye, bye, bye — to *NSYNC. The group reunited for a new song in Trolls Band Together, as the new trailer reveals. The single, “Better Place,” is the boy band’s first song together in 20 years.

Reports have been circulating for weeks about a potential *NSYNC reunion between Lance Bass, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick, and Justin Timberlake (who voices Branch in the animated feature). A boy band reunion storyline has also appeared in previous trailers for Trolls Band Together.

And just over the weekend, the once-lapsed group appeared on the MTV VMAs, fueling the fire even more.

The third installment of the Trolls franchise follows Poppy (Anna Kendrick) and Branch (Timberlake), who are now officially a couple! As they grow closer, Poppy finds out that Branch has a secret he’s been keeping: He was once part of the boy band BroZone with his four brothers. BroZone disbanded when Branch was still a baby, as did the family, and Branch hasn’t seen his brothers since.

“We’re out of sync, we’ve gone from boys to men, and there’s only one direction for us to go: the back streets,” Branch’s brother Floyd declares with references to popular boy bands in the trailer.

But when Floyd is kidnapped for his musical talents by a pair of pop-star villains — Velvet (Emmy winner Amy Schumer) and Veneer (Grammy winner and Tony nominee Andrew Rannells) — Branch and Poppy embark on a harrowing and emotional journey to reunite the other brothers and rescue Floyd from a fate even worse than pop-culture obscurity. After all, the only thing that can save Floyd is their family harmony.

The cast includes Troye Sivan, Eric Andre, Daveed Diggs, Kid Cudi, Camila Cabello, Zooey Deschanel, Kenan Thompson, and RuPaul Charles.
