The Voice Season 22 is in full swing and all eyes are on new Coach Camila Cabello as she sits in the red chair for the first time. Cabello is well-equipped for the challenge: she's a former Voice Battles Advisor, a finalist on The X Factor, and now a successful solo artist with numerous chart-topping bops. What can't Cabello do?

How to Watch

Watch The Voice Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

But everyone gets their start somewhere, and withThe Voice in full swing, Cabello is looking back on the beginning of her career when she was still a "hardcore" fan girl and easily starstruck.

"I was starstruck probably, like, the first three years of my career," the "Havana" singer revealed to NBC. "I grew up as, like, a hardcore fan girl," Cabello explains. "I started off being a hardcore One Direction fan girl, a big Taylor Swift fan, big Justin Bieber fan. And I met, like, all those people within the first year that I was professionally singing. So, it was a lot of...feelings."

Cabello then reflects upon her time on The X Factoras a member of the group Fifth Harmony, which was the same show that catapulted One Direction and its members to fame. "A big reason that I auditioned for X Factor was to meet One Direction," Cabello chides. "That sounds really crazy because it is. And it worked!"

While Cabello auditioned on the US version of The X Factor and One Direction came up on the UK version, her plan still worked. During her time on the show, Cabello and Fifth Harmony wowed the X Factor Judges and crowd, resulting in an all important meeting with the UK-based boy band, before ultimately placing third in the competition.

"I don't remember anything that any of them said," Cabello says while recollecting the pinch-worthy interaction. "I just remember being like, 'Oh my god, I can go home now. If we get eliminated, it's fine. I did what I had to do.'"

Fans will go to great lengths to meet their favorite musicians, but not everyone can say they launched their career out of love for One Direction. The Voice Coaches work hard, but when trying to meet childhood idols: Cabello works harder.

Watch Cabello face off against Coaches John LegendBlake Shelton, and Gwen Stefani during Season 22 of The Voice Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.
