Jet and Reyes Revealed the Shocking Way Their Affair Began on Organized Crime

After Detective Reyes repeatedly bugged Jet to discuss their affair at work, her emotional response gave away how they first started hooking up.

By Jill Sederstrom

A week after the kiss felt around the world, Law & Order: Organized Crime fans got a little more intel on how the affair between two fan favorite detectives began.

How to Watch

Watch Law & Order: Organized Crime Thursdays at 10/9c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

While the Season 4 premiere revealed that Detective Jet Slootmaekers (Ainsley Seiger) and her colleague, Detective Bobby Reyes (Rick Gonzalez), had been secretly hooking up, Episode 2 divulged the shocking place that the romantic relationship kicked off.

The revelation came after Detective Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) arrived at work in Episode 2 to find Reyes sleeping in his car. After saying "good morning," Stabler asked him if everything was alright at home, to which a married Reyes replied: "Im fine. We're good."

But his affair with Jet was clearly weighing on him, as Reyes was seen looking distraught at work when another colleague repeatedly tried to figure out how to pronounce Jet's last name.

Reyes snapped at the colleague, then approached Jet at her desk to ask, “Hey, can we talk?” Jet, not looking up from her computer, replied, “No time.” Not ready to drop the subject, Reyes insisted: "You said we need to talk.”

“We do,” Jet said, growing more agitated. “Just not right now.”

Reyes then asked: “Tonight?” And Jet told him she didn't think that was such a good idea. “You did the other night," Reyes said. After the apparent reference to their hookup in the prior episode, Jet yelled "Don’t!” — loud enough for their boss, Sergeant Ayanna Bell (Danielle Moné Truitt), to notice and look over at the pair.

How did the affair between detectives Jet and Reyes begin on Organized Crime?

After Reyes repeatedly insisted at work that Jet stop what she was doing to talk to him about their romantic relationship, Jet turned to Reyes and said something that implied that the pair first hooked up at an out-of-town memorial service for their former colleague, Detective Jamie Whelan (Brent Antonello), who died in the Season 3 finale of Organized Crime.

“If we hadn’t been in D.C. for Jamie's memorial, this never would have happened! You are married," an emotional Jet told Reyes. "And I care too much about you to ruin your life.”

The bombshell news that the pair were hooking up came in the Season 4 premiere after the team worked on a tough case involving “the top fentanyl distributers on the Eastern Seaboard." Detective Slootmaekers was winding down at home when her colleague, Detective Reyes, showed up unannounced.

Reyes — who was wearing his wedding ring earlier in the episode — stood at her door and said, “I just needed to make sure you were OK.”

When was the affair between Jet Slootmaekers and Bobby Reyes revealed?

Jet assured her married colleague she was “fine” when Reyes came to check on her in the Season 4 premiere of Organized Crime, but the surprise drop-in took an unexpected turn when Reyes gently made his way into the apartment and gazed into her eyes, making it clear his concern was more than platonic.

“I thought we agreed we weren’t going to do this again,” Jet told him.

“We did,” Reyes said, before the two shared a passionate kiss.

Just as the kissing heated up, Jet kicked the door closed, leaving fans to wonder just when the couple's surprising, clandestine relationship began.

How have the Organized Crime detectives been dealing with Jamie Whelan's death?

The team certainly has been under some intense stress in the wake of Detective Whelan’s heartbreaking Season 3 death — something Stabler referred to in the Season 4 premiere.

“How they doing?,” he asked Sergeant Bell of the rest of the team after returning from an undercover mission.

“Jet’s sharp edges are more like razor blades,” Bell replied. “She’s keeping everything close to the vest and Reyes has thrown himself into work a little bit too much. Reminds me of you. Not in a good way.”

It’s clear Jamie’s death has made an impact on the entire team in more ways than one. “He left a big hole,” Stabler agreed.

Jet Slootmaekers went undercover as Bobby Reyes' girlfriend on Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 4, Episode 1

In the Season 4 premiere, Jet proved just how versatile her skills can be when she went undercover as an entitled girlfriend to Reyes’ more dopey boyfriend. Reyes’ undercover character was looking to transform his high-end luxury car at a skins shop believed to be secretly helping a dangerous fentanyl ring.

While Reyes waxed on about his dreams of covering his high-end car with images of tigers or fighting robots to the staff at the shop, Jet took the opportunity to slip away and get digital data stored on one of the trucks used by the ring.

When did Jet Slootmaekers and Bobby Reyes join Law & Order: Organized Crime?

The whip-smart Jet has been with the OCCB since Season 1. The former hacker has constantly put her computer skills to use, while employing a dry wit all her own.

Reyes was introduced as a new undercover detective on Organized Crime in Season 3, after leaving his previous posts with the Narcotics and Anti-Crime units. He's proven himself to be an efficient and valuable member of the team who is willing to do whatever it takes to bring the bad guys to justice.

To find out how things will work out between Jet and Reyes and how the affair will effect other characters, watch Law & Order: Organized Crime Thursdays at 10/9c on NBC or stream episodes the next day on Peacock.
