Singer and songwriter Willow was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live on October 8, which was also hosted by Brendan Gleeson. There, Willow performed two tracks from her newest album, <CopingMechanism>. The songs she performed were ‘’Curious/Furious’’ and ‘’Ur a Stranger,’’ which were accompanied by a full backing band. Watch the performances below.
During "Curious/Furious," Willow sang while gripping the microphone in front of purple and pink lighting, with a soft melancholy guitar riff playing in the background. The drums picked up a beat as the song gradually built to a chorus, with Willow’s vocals becoming more intense. ‘’Never wear a frown because life doesn’t choose; either side, wine or lose, right or wrong, it’s a battle,’’ her voice soared with emotion. When the song reached its outro, she then picked up a guitar and jammed along with her band, finishing in an epic conclusion.
Her fiery performance of ‘’Ur a Stranger’’ consisted of an upbeat punk-rock arrangement while she strummed on her guitar. ‘’She used to be mine, now she’s yours and that’s fine,’’ she sang with fervor. She nailed some haunting high notes during the pre-chorus, then launched into some chaotic distorted vocals. To top things off, she threw her guitar into a prop television set that was onstage, then kicked the microphone down with defiance.
The next musical guest on SNL this season is Megan Thee Stallion on October 15.
