Six seasons of Community are headed to Peacock — and a movie isn’t far behind! The critically acclaimed series, which ran from 2009 to 2015 and developed a cult following, will join The Office and Parks & Recreation on Peacock on Monday, April 1.

Here’s what you need to know about Community on Peacock.

What Is Community About and Who Stars in It?

Community, which was created by future Rick and Morty co-creator Dan Harmon, premiered on NBC as part of the channel’s famed Thursday night comedy block in the fall of 2009. The show takes place at a fictional community college in Colorado, Greendale Community College. A group of students with various backgrounds form a study group and become friends, dealing with all sorts of hijinks throughout their education. The show is notable for its use of meta-humor, and several of the most beloved episodes are pastiches of various genres, like an action movie spoof or a Law & Order parody.

Joel McHale stars as Jeff Winger, a hotshot former lawyer who needs to attend college after he’s been disbarred for lying about his education. Gillian Jacobs plays Britta Perry, an outspoken activist who is frequently in over her head. Danny Pudi is Abed Nadir, a TV and movie savant who tends to filter everything he observes through the lens of pop culture tropes. Yvette Nicole Brown is Shirley Bennett, a mother who is returning to school in the hopes of starting a brownie business. Alison Brie plays Annie Edison, a high school over-achiever who flamed out and became addicted to Adderall, prompting her to enroll at Greendale rather than a fancy private college.

The study club group is rounded out by two more members, although they’re not part of the main cast for all six seasons of Community. Chevy Chase plays Pierce Hawthorne, an old millionaire who enrolls so that he has something to do, in the first four seasons. Pierce frequently is at odds with other members of the group. Finally, Donald Glover plays Troy Barnes, a former high school quarterback who lost his scholarship due to a keg flip injury. Glover would leave the show after the fifth season as his music career as Childish Gambino began to take off, and he would go on to create the acclaimed series Atlanta. He is returning for the movie, though.

What’s All This About a Community Movie?

A one-off joke about the NBC superhero series The Cape became a rallying cry for Community fans who wanted to see the show thrive despite its low ratings. While Community did manage to air for six seasons, the movie seemed like a much-talked-about pipe dream until very recently.

Community: The Movie, from series creator Dan Harmon and executive producer Andrew Guest, is officially coming to Peacock, featuring the whole original cast with the exception of Chase. A release date has yet to be announced.
