Taylor Kinney and His Brother Had the Funniest Encounter With Leonardo DiCaprio

Two words: The Beach

Taylor Kinney and Leonardo Dicaprio

Taylor Kinney may be used to running into burning buildings on set for Chicago Fire as Kelly Severide, but even the bravest celebrities can get a little starstruck. Especially when meeting the highly-successful and talented Leonardo DiCaprio.

How to Watch

Watch Chicago Fire Wednesdays at 9/8c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

Kinney chatted with Chicago Med star S. Epatha Merkerson in a recent video about a time when he and his brother became tongue-twisted around DiCaprio, and it will likely have One Chicago fans howling.

"I met DiCaprio at an event and had met him once or twice, and my younger brother was with me. He's a huge, big fan, but it's rare that I see him get flustered," Kinney recalled. Being a loving older brother, the Chicago Fire actor decided to ask DiCaprio to meet his family. What could go wrong, right?

Kinney approached the Wolf of Wall Street star and asked, "'Hey, Leo, would you say hello to my little brother?' He's like, 'Sure.' And so, I'm behind DiCaprio, and I can see my brother. I see Leo, and he makes this face, turns to look at me, and then turns and walks away."

If you're panicking, you're not alone, because Kinney was also very concerned about this interaction. "I go up to my brother, and I was like, 'What did you say?' He goes, 'I didn't know what to say, so I just kinda stared at him for a while, and I said, 'The Beach!' (A reference to DiCaprio's 2000 movie of the same name.)

Did that interaction make sense to DiCaprio, Kinney, or anyone hearing this story? Who knows! But is it hilariously unforgettable and relatable? You betcha.

The countdown to the return of our One Chicago family has officially begun. New seasons of Chicago MedChicago Fireand Chicago P.D kick off Wednesday, September 21 at 8/7c and the next day on Peacock.
