The wait is over: Weakest Link, the popular game show and a global phenomenon, is returning for a third season on April 11, 2023.

How to Watch

The Season 3 premiere will feature teams of twins competing for a chance to grab the cash prize. It’s the first of several special themed episodes, one of which will include a group of drag queens competing in honor of Pride Month and some WWE superstars. Before the premiere, catch up on all there is to know about one of NBC's most beloved game shows.

Who Is The Host of Weakest Link?

The Emmy-award winning Jane Lynch is back as host with her signature acerbic wit and pointed barbs still intact—and aimed with precision at contestants. She also serves as executive producer with Aaron Solomon.

“I’m very much looking forward to a third season of mocking contestants and encouraging discord,” Lynch said in a statement.

Lynch previously hosted NBC's Hollywood Game Night. She's currently appearing on the much-delayed third season of Party Down, has appeared on all four seasons of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and won an Emmy for her role of Sue Sylvester on Glee. Before making it big on Glee, she was a long-time character actor who appeared in dozens and dozens of series, including Friends, The West Wing, Frasier, 3rd Rock from the Sun, News Radio, and many, many more.

How the Game Weakest Link Works

The game begins with eight strangers, who must join forces in order to win the maximum amount of cash available in each round. One at a time, each contestant must answer general knowledge questions to build chains of correct answers. The team's prize increases as more consecutive questions are answered correctly.

But an incorrect answer could end in disaster: Anyone's wrong answer will break the chain and force all the contestants to start over from the lowest dollar amount.

Contestants compete for more money after each round, but they must vote to boot the individual viewed as the “weakest link” in the chain. The person with the most votes must depart as Lynch says six of the most dreaded words for anyone on the show to hear: “You are the weakest link. Goodbye.”

On the flip side, the last person left standing is crowned the Strongest Link and gets the total cash prize won by the entire field of contestants. That can be as much as $1 million.
