Reba McEntire's Best Recipes: Sweet Potato Casserole, Reba's Tots & More

The Queen of Country offers royal blessings for your kitchen.

By Adam Pockross

You may know Reba McEntire as the Queen of Country, or lately as Coach Reba on The Voice, but you may just want to call her Chef Reba. The rookie Voice Coach (who acts like a veteran) is no rookie in the kitchen, she even doled out her special tater tots, aka Reba's Tots, to those lucky Artists that joined Team Reba on the show.

How to Watch

Watch The Voice Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

McEntire brings a delightfully homespun sensibility to both her music and her cooking. Her new lifestyle/cookbook, Not That Fancy: Simple Lessons on Living, Loving, Eating, and Dusting Off Your Boots, boasts recipes made famous at Reba's Place, her 15,000-square-foot restaurant, bar and live entertainment venue in Atoka, Oklahoma. And of course, there's plenty of downhome stories as well.

"If you're looking to slow down, get back to basics, and have a heckuva lot of fun, I think we're going to have a good time together in these pages," McEntire says about her book. "Come on in, kick off your boots (or leave them on, I don’t care), and learn how to bring a little bit of my downhome-inspired life into your own."

So if you've got a hankering to eat and live life a little bit more like Reba, her book is on sale now. It's a great addition to your own home, or certainly something special for anyone on your gift list this holiday season. But let's say you're looking to get cooking right away... well, we've got you covered. Here's a quick guide to some handydandy Reba recipes available now on the web. Enjoy!

Downhome Recipes from Reba McEntire's Country Kitchen

Reba McEntire's Praline Sweet Potato Casserole

Is there anything better than a potato casserole? Well, a sweet potato casserole. And you know what's better than that? Reba's own Praline Sweet Potato Casserole! It's a classic take on the dish, featuring pecans, brown sugar and cinnamon.

Check out this recipe via Good Housekeeping, which definitely puts the emphasis on the word "good."

Reba's Tots

Reba didn't just serve up delicious tater tots to Team Reba Artists on The Voice, she served up delicious branded "Reba's Tots," as you can see in her Instagram post above. "I’ve never met a tot I didn’t like #TheVoice #RebasTots," she wrote at the time.

To take tot-loving one step further, on her first date with current boyfriend, actor Rex Linn, the couple bonded over tater tots, so much so that he calls her "Tater Tot," and her pet name for him is "Sugar Tot," as Reba told Jennifer Hudson.

As far as the recipe goes, it sounds like a simple one, as Reba noted recently to Seth Meyers. "You get in your car, and you put it in reverse. Get out of the garage and drive down the road, and you find your nearest Sonic," McEntire said. "Pull in the entrance, not the exit. You pull in one of them little slots and you push that red button and you say, ‘Can I have me some tater tots?’ And I hope they don’t say, ‘We’re out.’"

Reba's Signature Beer Cheese

If you can't visit Reba's restaurant in Oklahoma, you can bring a little bit of Reba's Place to your own place with one of their signature dishes: beer cheese. It only takes about 10 minutes to make, so you can enjoy it right away. But careful, it's awfully filling. What makes her version unique? Reba's recipe works in Worcestershire sauce, a dash of hot sauce, Dijon mustard and cayenne pepper.

“Beer and cheese—what a combo!" Reba told People, while sharing the recipe. “It’s tasty but also very filling, so you’ve got to limit yourself.” Yeah, good luck with that.

Reba's Pinto Beans and Cornbread

"This is hands-down my favorite food," McEntire says of Pinto Beans and Cornbread in Not That Fancy. "I’ve loved pinto beans and cornbread forever. And I still love them. This is the ‘fancy’ version we make at the restaurant, but you don’t need a fancy occasion to enjoy them."

Find yourself any old occasion, and check out the recipe at Garden & Gun

Reba's Mile High Burger

So far we've been a little focused on sides, but what about a main dish? Well, you can't go wrong with a burger, but with Reba's Mile High Burger –– packed with creamy pimento cheese, zingy chow chow relish, and crunchy fried green tomatoes –– you can go very right.

“This is one of the tallest burgers you will ever see!” McEntire told Parade, while sharing the recipe. And one the tastiest!

Reba's Porch Day Lemonade

Obviously, you're going to need a refreshing beverage or two to wash down such a feast as we've got cooking here, but don't fret, Reba's got you covered for the drink menu as well. One of the recipes in Not That Fancy is for Reba's Porch Day Lemonade, which is just perfect for a day spent lounging around on the porch, telling stories, and eating delicious tots.

Wanna spend some more good times with Reba? Catch her on The Voice Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.
