Mandy Moore Adopted a Dog — and Her 2-Year-Old Son Came Up With the Sweetest Name
The This Is Us and Dr. Death star welcomed the pooch in the most selfless way.
Mandy Moore just introduced the newest addition to her family in the best way.
On January 20, the This Is Us and Dr. Death star took to her official Instagram page to share the most adorable picture of her new rescue dog. The snapshot showed the shaggy pup chilling in a comfy bed and looking at the camera with his big brown eyes. Moore then explained that he was a stray that the family saved in a noble moment, and that the dog was adorably named by Moore's 2-year-old son, Gus.

"Welcome to the family, Marshmallow! This sweet boy was found wandering the streets for several days, many miles from here by our beloved nanny, Celina. He’s about 6-7 months, unchipped, not fixed (but scheduled for next week) and just the most unexpectedly wonderful addition to our gang. We weren’t looking for another dog but he was looking for us and the fact that he looks remarkably like our dear Joni made it too impossible to ignore," she gushed in the caption.

She continued: "The cats are nonplussed and Jackson (our 14 year old shepherd mutt rescue) is also a little 🤷♀️ but Marshmallow is slowly winning them over. When we showed Gus a picture of him and asked what his name was, without hesitation he shouted 'Marshmallow!' With his arms in the air. Done and done. Can’t wait for all of the adventures, sir!! #adoptdontshop."

Naming dogs isn't the only fun thing that Gus has done recently. In July 2023, Moore posted about taking her two boys, including her then 9-month-old son Ozzie, to a joyful birthday bash. In the Instagram clip, Moore expertly held Gus while coming down a big bouncy slide, keeping her outfit in tact.
"Don’t wear a dress to a kid’s birthday party 🤦♀️. Happy Bday, Bear!!! This was too much fun!!" she captioned the post.

In May 2023, Moore gave fans a sweet glimpse into her family life, sharing a picture of Gus giving Ozzie a kiss on the head.
"These dudes rule my heart," More wrote. "Each night, Taylor and I fall into bed after we’ve put them down; after we’ve straightened up from the chaos of dinner/bath and set up for the next morning and we chat about the day…. And just how utterly nonstop and gratifying it is. You never know what the day will bring and you roll with it to the best of your ability, right? All of that to say, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I mean, I do look forward to feeling moderately well rested sometime in the next decade."
