Jack Martin’s Epic Season 1 Recap | NBC’s La Brea

With the September 27 premiere of La Brea Season 2 getting closer by the day, it's only natural that in preparation for new episodes, we look back to the inaugural season—because a lot happened. So much so that countless fan theories have even developed, hoping to predict the next twists to come.

Lucky for us, we've been gifted a comprehensive recap of Season 1 courtesy of Jack Martin, aka La Brea's Josh Harris. For a refresher, Josh and his mother Eve (Natalie Zea) fell through the La Brea sinkhole in the premiere. What followed were their adventures of trying to figure out how exactly they arrived in a mysterious new land that turned out to be 10,000 B.C. Los Angeles. Meaning, yes: They time traveled.

Martin looks back on it all, from his character Josh's dad Gavin's (Eoin Macken) visions that allow him to see into 10,000 B.C., to the discovery of the Tongva, Rebecca Aldridge's puzzling connection to it all, and—spoiler alert—the shocking revelation that Isiah was actually a young Gavin. As far as what's to come? Martin didn't reveal much, but he did tease that the upcoming season will be even more unbelievable than the last.

"If you thought that was epic, you're not gonna believe what Season 2 has in store for you," he said.

For the fans out there who'd like to get into the weeds of everything that went down last season, each week this summer NBC Insider has been running through every episode and detailing the most important moments from each. Catch up whenever you're in the mood for a little time travel.

Watch La Brea on Peacock and on NBC.
