Kelly Clarkson is a self-proclaimed "Broadway nerd," and based on a throwback performance with Josh Groban, we can totally tell.

How to Watch

In 2017, Clarkson and Groban joined forces to perform an enchanting duet of  "All I Ask of You" from the acclaimed musical Phantom of the Opera, and their voices will leave you spellbound. Watch it here.

"No more talk of darkness, forget these wide-eyed fears, I'm here, nothing can harm you, my words will warm and calm you," Groban started off the performance. "Let me be your freedom, let daylight dry your tears, I'm here, with you, beside you to guard you and to guide you."

Then, Clarkson jumped in with a clear, bright tone, singing, "Say you love me every waking moment, turn my head with talk of summertime. Say you need me with you now and always. Promise me that all you say is true, that's all I ask of you."

"Let me be your shelter, let me be your light, you're safe, no one will find you, your fears are far behind you," Groban sang with passion.

"All I want is freedom, a world with no more night, and you, always beside me, to hold me and to hide me," Clarkson sang, putting her own unique vocal twist on the lyrics.

Groban then repeated the chorus while Clarkson looked entranced by his performance. "Then say you'll share with me one love, one lifetime, let me lead you from your solitude, say you need me with you, here beside you, anywhere you go, let me go too, Christine, that's all I ask of you," he sang while the strings in the background built up in suspense.

Then, Clarkson kicked things up a notch with some signature belting. "Say you'll share with me one love, one lifetime, say the word and I will follow you," her voice soared.

The two then sang in unison, their gorgeous voices blending together seamlessly.  "Share each day with me, each night, each morning. Say you love me, you know I do. Love me, that's all I ask of you."

Clarkson then hit a show-stopping high note in an operatic tone that's a shift from what we normally hear from the pop singer. "Anywhere you go, let me go too, love me, that's all I ask of you," they both sang before the performance came to a dramatic conclusion.

Kelly Clarkson is working on a Broadway show

Now that The Kelly Clarkson Show has moved its headquarters to New York City, that means Clarkson can live out her "Broadway nerd" dreams and work on a show — if she so chooses. And it turns out, she's doing exactly that. While nothing is confirmed now, she told TODAY,  "I've been writing a show...I've been doing that for about a year and a half now...I would like my kids to get established here, for me to get established here, but I love Broadway...I do want to do something."
