Happy birthday to Jimmy Fallon! The Host of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon turned 49 years old on September 19, 2023. In honor of the almost-golden birthday, he shared throwback photo of himself as an early '80s kid, blowing out what appears to be seven birthday candles (plus one more for good luck, of course).

How to Watch

Fallon's Instagram post included a shout-out to his mom and dad. "Since I can remember my parents always got me an ice cream cake for my birthday," he wrote in the caption. "Lucky kid. Keeping ice cream cakes in business since 1974. (Thank you all for the birthday love.)"

The post was met with birthday greetings from famous friends that included SNL Season 48 cast member Ego Nwodim and his fellow SNL alum from the 2000s, Rachel Dratch

"Happy birthday you funny stud!" wrote Bravo's Andy Cohen.

On Fallon's 40th birthday during his first year at The Tonight Show back in 2014, announcer Steve Higgins and his other colleagues surprised him with a serenade from music icon Stevie Wonder, who sang—what else?—his song "Happy Birthday" before performing "Sir Duke" at Fallon's request.

More recently in 2021, the show celebrated The Roots drummer Questlove's 50th birthday with bandmate Black Thought gifting him a ruby-covered lapel pin with a special inscription, while Fallon gave him Morris Day's ornate mirror from the Prince film Purple Rain, signed by Day himself.

When Fallon joked to Black Thought apparently missing his own birthday that September, the vocalist retorted, "but you didn't turn 50!" That particular milestone will occur in 2024.
