Garth Brooks & Kelly Clarkson Teared Up Talking About His Wife, Trisha Yearwood

"I found her in the past life. I'll find her in the next," Brooks said about his wife, who he's been married to for 18 years.

Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood are one of country music's most beloved power couples. They've been married since 2005, and in a November 2023 interview on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Brooks opened up about just how much Yearwood means to him.

Host Kelly Clarkson asked Brooks on her November 21st show about what gratitude means to him, and he mused, "When it comes to the future, I think what you're grateful for is just one more day, right? Of getting to do this. So I think that's it. Truthfully, if I could say what I'd love to say, it's the day I take my last breath on this planet, I'd love for my three girls to be around me."

Brooks is referring to his three daughters: Taylor, 31; August, 29; and Allie, 27, all of whom he welcomed from his previous marriage.

His fourth girl, no doubt, is wife Yearwood, a country legend with decades of hit-making experience, three Grammy Awards, and millions of albums sold.

"I'd love for the queen [Yearwood] to be around me [too]," Brooks said, further answering the question of how he'd like to spend his final moments.

That's when Brooks started to get emotional — and Clarkson did, too.

"As far as Miss Yearwood," Brooks said, "I've said this before: I found her in the past life. I'll find her in the next."

"Well, have a great day, everybody!" Clarkson said jokingly to break the heartfelt tension, pretending to get up and walk away.

The audience (and Brooks) laughed, and he added, "[Yearwood] makes it fun. She makes it really fun!"

"I'm gonna cry at lunch, Garth!" Clarkson said. "...You're tearing up, and you're making me tear up!"

"I'm not tearing up," Brooks said, smiling, before wiping away some very real tears.
