Darci Lynne’s Awe-Inspiring Range Wows Again in This Elvis Birthday Tribute

The America's Got Talent season 12 winner honored The King with her passionate rendition of "Trouble."

By Jackie Manno

To honor what would've been Elvis Presley's 89th birthday on January 8, America's Got Talent Season 12 winner Darci Lynne sang an edgy rendition of his tune "Trouble."

How to Watch

Watch America’s Got Talent Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock

During her version, she sang with pure energy as her voice soared through the chorus. Then, in a fun twist, we see her mom coming up the stairs and giving a wave to the camera.

"Happy birthday Elvis🎸 Also peep my mom at the end 😝 #elvispresley," she wrote on TikTok.

This isn't the only time Lynne has done a badass rendition of "Trouble" by Presley. In September 2023, she sang an a cappella version in her kitchen and said that she was inspired by the song's feature in the 2022 biopic Elvis.

What to know about "Trouble" by Elvis Presley

"Trouble" debuted in the 1958 film King Creole starring Elvis Presley, who played the lead character, Danny Fischer. (Danny sings the song in a nightclub to impress a girl with his rebellious attitude.) The track was written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stroller, and Presley performed the song again in 1968 for his Singer Presents...Elvis broadcast concert on NBC.

"Elvis — clad in black leather — re-staked his claim to be the king of rock’n’roll after several years of tired films and tired records. Here was Elvis untamed, unfiltered, unleashed," The Financial Times praised the performance.

In 2022, Austin Butler performed the song in the biopic Elvis, a role which earned him an Oscar nomination.
