Ice T and Coco Austin have the most loving marriage, but the couple had to step outside their comfort zone when Austin appeared as a guest star on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in 2007.

How to Watch

Watch Law & Order: Special Victims Unit Thursdays on NBC and next day on Peacock.

Austin has appeared on the show three times, and in an interview with NBC Insider, she gave details about how her characters came to be.

"They think of a character kind of like what I would be, and they ask me," Austin said"They've come to me many times, saying 'We have an idea [of a character] that's kind of like Coco.'"

"And then they go: 'Why don't we just use Coco?'" Ice T chimed in.

Austin then went on to discuss the Season 9 episode that she appeared in, and what she liked the most about working with her husband on screen.

"He interrogates me, and I think it's funny that they see a different light with me," she told us. "And I act very bitchy, which I'm so not."

Ice T also hyped up his wife's acting skills. "We practiced it a lot at home, but I told her, 'Once we get on the set, I'm not gonna be able to say anything to you. You're being handled by the director.' So we did our little homework, and she hit the set, she killed it," he said.

Season 25 of Law & Order: SVU airs Thursdays at 9/8c on NBC.

The episode that Austin is referring to is 2007's Season 9, Episode 8, titled "Fight." In her appearance, Austin plays a woman named Traci Bell, whose fiancé has been accused of committing violent crimes. In the scene between her and Detective Fin Tutuola, played by Ice T, he confronts Bell for being nonchalant about her partner's atrocities.

Austin's first role on the show was in 2004 in the Season 5, Episode 25 episode, titled "Head," where Austin's character is credited as "Porn Queen."

Her most recent SVU appearance was in 2012 in Season 13, Episode 11, titled "Theatre Tricks." Austin played the character of Venus, an actress in a show who is performing when a crime is committed.

In a 2012 interview with Huffington Post, Ice T talked about the captivating energy that his wife brings to the SVU set. "I think whenever Coco is on the set, every single crew member somehow makes it to the set. Every light man, every prop person, every electrical, every cook somehow makes it to that set when Coco is going to shoot. We have more people on set when Coco shoots than any time in the history of Law & Order," he told the outlet.
