Brett's First Date Post-Casey on Chicago Fire Has a Sweet Connection to Hawkins

What are the chances?

Mikami Gets Emotional About Losing Hawkins | NBC’s Chicago Fire

Chicago Fire Season 11, Episode 8 saw Brett (Kara Killmer) attempt to dip her toe back in the dating pool post-Casey (Jesse Spencer). Our beloved paramedic is still reeling from her emotional breakup, and while she's processing it mostly via work and friendships, Episode 8 hinted that romance could be on her horizon. And with someone who has a sweet connection to the late, wonderful Hawkins (Jimmy Nicholas).

How to Watch

Watch Chicago Fire Wednesdays at 9/8c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

Here's what happened in the episode: Violet (Hanako Greensmith) and Brett are at the hospital when they run into a handsome stranger who volunteers there, owns a bar, and shares Brett's fear of clowns. The first two facts set off alarms in Violet's mind, and she asks the man if he knew Evan Hawkins, to which he says, "I did. Are you Violet?"

In an emotional twist, we learn this man is the person Violet and Hawkins wanted to set Brett up with a few episodes ago this season. His name is Dylan—and later in the episode, he stops by Firehouse 51 to ask Brett out. After a little hesitation—rightfully so; remember, she just went through a major breakup—Brett agrees.

"I don't think I'll ever be ready," Brett tells Violet about the possibility of dating again. "But that doesn't mean I shouldn't try."

And try she does. The episode ends with Brett approaching a coffee house to meet Dylan for their first date. And while we don't get to see how things go (yet), fans surely will get an update soon. We only have two things to go off of right now on how this will turn out: (1) The fact that Brett called Dylan "adorable," and (2) That she was beaming when she arrived on the date.

Of course, we'll have to wait and see to know anything for sure. To do that, watch Chicago Fire on NBC Wednesdays at 9/8c and next day on Peacock.
