Hear Terry Fator's Uncanny Bette Midler Impression in a Spooky New Hocus Pocus Cover

The AGT ventriloquist sang the Sanderson sisters' cover of John Debney's "I Put a Spell On You" in honor of Halloween.

It's not magic, just lots and lots of practice. Terry Fator has once again proven that his ventriloquism talent is downright spooky with his latest video, in which he covers the Sanderson sisters' — played by Bette Middler (Winifred), Kathy Najimy (Mary), and Sarah Jessica Parker (Sarah) — version of "I Put a Spell on You" from 1993's Halloween classic Hocus Pocus. Singing without moving your lips? Both a trick and a treat.

"Hello Halloween lovers! My name's Winifred, what's yours?" his red-headed puppet asked before being joined by the Mary and Sarah puppets for the song. At the end, both Winifred and Terry wished all viewers a very happy Halloween. "I Put a Spell On You" was originally written by Screamin' Jay Hawkins in 1956 and has been covered many times over since, most famously by Nina Simone and Annie Lennox. John Debney put his on twist on the classic track and slightly changed the lyrics for Hocus Pocus.

In the Disney film — which flopped at the box office at the time but subsequently became a Halloween classic thanks to annual airings on Disney Channel — the trio of Salem witches perform at a Halloween party to get the attention of the town adults so they can cast a spell over them. You know, to make it easier to suck out the lives of young children. And when you have Midler in your movie, you use her! Hocus Pocus 2, released in 2022, reunited Midler with co-stars Najimy and Parker for more witchy fun.

Given that Fator posted the video on October 5, hopefully we can expect more Halloween songs from the America's Got Talent winner throughout the month. Maybe "Thriller" by Michael Jackson, the Ghostbusters theme or "Werewolves of London"? We know Fator has the chops to do it all, if he can find the time! He recently covered "Say Say Say," performing pitch-perfect impressions of both Jackson and Paul McCartney, after all.

What Terry Fator's been doing since winning Season 2 of America's Got Talent

According to Judge Simon Cowell, the impressionist-ventriloquist is "the most successful Contestant [the show has] ever had." And he's stuck by AGT, too. Fator performed during the America's Got Talent Season 17 finals and even competed on America’s Got Talent: All-Stars in 2023.

Cowell said at the time, “The fact that he would come back and compete, I mean I was thinking, 'Why would you do that?'...He just said, 'Look, the show gave me a break. I love the idea of this competition and of course, I wanna compete again. And he did. That says a lot about him."
