Sofia Vergara Reunited with Her Modern Family Costars in the Most Unexpected Place

The America's Got Talent Judge is still close with her former on-screen family.

By Jackie Manno

On October 24, Sofia Vergara shared some great snapshots of herself and former Modern Family co-stars, Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Mitchell Pritchett) and Julie Bowen (Claire Dunphy) having a fun hangout together. The best part? The gathering took place in a surprising venue... her closet!

How to Watch

Watch the Season 19 premiere of America’s Got Talent Tuesday, May 28 at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock

In the pictures, Bowen hugged Ferguson before his husband, Justin Mikita, took a selfie in front of Vergara's vast display of high heels. Then, they all posed for not one, but two group selfies.

"Afternoon with some of my favorite people in the world! I luv u," Vergara affectionately wrote.

This isn't the only time Vergara has met up with co-stars from the Emmy-winning series. Rico Rodriguez, who played Manny, the on-screen son of Vergara's character Gloria, surprised Vergara on a Season 16 episode of America's Got Talent in 2021.

Rodriguez made an appearance to help magician Dustin Tavella (who later ended up winning the Season) with his Act. When Vergara saw Rodriquez, she immediately hugged him and eagerly helped usher him to the stage.

"One of the things that made last night so special was the fact that I was able to surprise @sofiavergara on LIVE TV! Everyone backstage was trying so hard to keep it a secret and she literally had no idea. Thank you @agt for the awesome opportunity for a Modern family mini reunion ❤️ love you Sofiaaaaa 💃🏽" Rodriguez wrote on his Instagram on a sweet photo of him and Vergara backstage.

After 11 seasons, Modern Family came to an end in 2020, but Vergara and the rest of the cast have remained close. Ferguson officiated current Love Island host Sarah Hyland's wedding in 2022 (she played Hayley Dunphy in the comedy), and Vergara was in attendance along with her son Manolo Vergara, Bowen, Ariel Winter (Alex Dunphy), and Nolan Gould (Luke Dunphy).

“We all really do love each other,” Ferguson told Today. “With any family, there are obviously dynamics and disagreements, but we all care about each other so much. We love working with one another and I do feel like the relationships that I have on TV sort of bleed into my real life.”

Bowen also recently gushed about Vergara to People. "Sofía has always been my role model as far as embracing being a woman and womanly, and yet also being powerful and not... I always felt like you had to compromise one for the other."
